About this deal

There is no DVS – You’d need to go for the XDJ-XZ to get that (and put up with the inferior speed and screen size) Space and Crush FX are the Sound Color effects that weren’t present on the XDJ-RX2 which as we’ve pointed out featured just 4 basic Sound Color effects and 8 Beat FX. 3-band waveforms view The modern era of DJing has brought with it a fundamental change to how DJs assess and prepare mixes. Pioneer XDJ-RX2 vs. Pioneer XDJ-RX3. What features got updated? Is the upgrade to XDJ-RX3 worth your money? Let’s get to know the new XDJ-RX3 standalone DJ controller and compare it to the previous XDJ-RX2 model! One final option to consider is the Pioneer DDJ SB3. The XDJ RX2 is an expensive controller. If you are a new DJ you’ll be better suited to an entry-level option. Plenty of features to allow you to get your feet wet. You can always upgrade down the line.

Features

The Pioneer RX3 features long-throw pitch faders for accurate adjustments. The Tempo select button gives you the flexibility to adjust the increments. Great for handling a mix between large BPM jumps. Master Tempo is also present along with Beat Sync. The front panel contains the headphone connection with a choice of both ¼ inch and ⅛ inch. I would have liked to see a microphone option on the front but I also like the minimalist approach. DVS is really important for me and I know that units like DDJ-SZ or Denon’s new MCX8000 do support it. I read on Pioneer forums that even when DVS is ready and introduced for Rerkorbox ecosystem – xdjrx will never support it due to some hardware limitations of the xdi-rx which cannot be overcome (guy from Pioneer has stated that). The Performance Pad section of the Pioneer XDJ RX2 is capable but doesn’t contain as many features as other controllers. See? I just knew it had to be something simple like this. Can you tell this is my first piece of Pioneer gear, coming from a Traktor S2? 😉

I’d love to see a version where they lose the CDJ sections and just keep the mixer. So I can control rekordbox with TC vinyl with my turntables either side. Stand alone DVS!

Tech spec

For DJs who play clubs on Pioneer DJ gear and want a Pioneer look and feel at home, this is a good fit (as long as they don’t use key shift, take that as read in all these scenarios). For those who one day want to play in clubs and want to practise on a system that’s close, this could work too. Serato compatibility is a smart move, and will be a big draw for many DJs. Your last 2 sentences – that’s exactly what I am thinking of doing –> getting xdj-rx and hooking up 1200s so that if I want I can use standalone mixer function on the xdj-rx.
