About this deal

Women have emancipated themselves from the patriarchy over the past 60 years, we no longer have to be barefoot and pregnant tied to the kitchen sink. The parts about the internet, validation and women’s egos are all pretty much bang on. We all know how many selfies 20-40 year old women post so that they can get people to boost them up. Then they believe the media hype. We all know at least one toxic lying TikTok poster ( for me, my ex daughter in law) Don't have enough money saved up for retirement? No problem. Never started a 401k or IRA? Don't worry. And are you so far behind in your personal finances you're worried you'll never be able to retire? It's all good. Because whether you know it or not, the entire US retirement system is horribly flawed and was doomed to fail anyway. And that's why every American needs to listen to Poor Richard's Retirement. No ability to articulate what was “bad” about the book simply “Oh My God Women Deserve Less?? I hate this book!”

It's filled with "statistics" interpreted with bent rhetoric explaining to men how this proves the world is unfair to them, how great it is for women, how stupidly women behave, how fundamentally useless women are "in the world of men". Its actual knowledge of history and contemporary culture is razor-thin. Power has an appearance and appearance has power. Ideally those two would line up together and the world would be full of good, masculine men who dress and look like good masculine men. But all too often, reality is something different. There are good men and strong leaders out there who dress and look like children or bums. There are awful, lazy men in the world who dress in a way that hides their vices from those around them and makes them appear better than they truly are. In an attempt to correct for these disparities, our current culture tries to rob both appearance of its power and power of its appearance - to say that the way a person dresses or looks doesn’t - or at least shouldn’t matter. A woman has a weakness when it comes to shoes… But, I can go barefoot if necessary. I have a weakness for books.” Your hardwired, biological programming is screaming at you to get girls, get laid, and inevitably start a family.

The first is explicit: for men to work hard, place yourself in the top 5% of men the book says women are interested in, and then the women will be rolling to you, pretty much without you having to do anything else but get into that top 5% Again please tell me where you have seen the message of “Big is beautiful” being directed towards Men on Social Media, in ADs etc. Link or accurately describe any instances of it that were made before this review. The books main point, that men need to focus on themselves and become the best they can be before settling/pursuing/being pursued by a woman, is a good and valid point and is well thought out. If you care to hear more of his thoughts with a Female that does an exceptional job of listening (much more objectively than most people) and holding a space to facilitate an actual discussion I recommend listening to Layah’s interview of him on 6/23/23 on YouTube. With her maturity and grace, she does a wonderful job of contributing to the discussion by adding value and perspective to it. And if you ask me she has a great accent too : D

Instead of spending so much time and energy to chase women who don’t like you, invest in yourself and there will be women who want you. Well this is an obvious fact that can be articulated with a better language. I don't know anything about that book. But if it is a book that makes up reasons to hate men, generalises all men to be liars and manipulators and tells women they should not respect men and should work towards degrading them and take away their liberties, and promotes a message that men are inferior to us and we should act accordingly. Then yes I would feel the same about that book. Also notice how you have never in your life seen “Big is beautiful” or any statement like that directed towards Men. What does that tell you? Considering how much books have helped me) I guess I naively assumed there would be a bit more maturity in these parts (Goodreads). Anyways, if you do still want to get this book for a laugh; do not buy it on audible! The contents of the book are terrible, but the narration by Myron Gaines is even worse. He is consistently yelling throughout the entire two hours at the reader like they are some sort of idiot and it is extremely off-putting and makes this even more difficult to listen too. Just FYI.

There are myriad reasons why a book like this gets made. I don't disagree that society has failed men in a big way these past few decades, but men who feel lost with women are done little to no favors with a book like this. They're given bad models to view women by, faulty theories for how they got into their situation, and toxic and unhelpful solutions about what to do. That message is 99% (at the very least) targeted towards Women. Is it more about body-shaming or is it more about Women not wanting to be held accountable? Because if it’s truly about body-shaming and acceptance than Men must not experience the slightest bit of it (body-shaming) because they are NEVER told it’s “beautiful, strong, masculine or handsome”. And they never have been. Because while women no longer need you today, they’re not stupid enough to turn down any free help you’re willing to give them. And many know if they dangle the prospect of sex in front of you, you will provide them money, attention, and resources, essentially making you their part-time slave. Women do not create, build, design or control any of the essential infrastructural systems of the planet.
