About this deal

Encouragement for Today: Devotions for Everyday Living. Zondervan, 2013. With Renee Swope and Samantha Evilsizer. ISBN 0310336287 TerKeurst, Lysa (2022). Good Boundaries and Goodbyes: Loving Others Without Losing the Best of Who You Are. Nelson Books. Nashville, Tennessee. ISBN 978-1-400211760. Girls who have the lingering whispers of rejection still echoing in the hollows of their soul rarely feel completely held safe. So they look at gaps of the unknown and hesitate at best. Run away at worst. They crave for life to make sense. They cringe when it doesn’t.” This book was a little unfocused. It seemed to touch on every topic and yet not really say anything. To sum it up, "God loves you, so you should live your life feeling loved. If you don't feel loved, that's a problem. The solution? Know that God loves you." Which isn't wrong - it's just incredibly simplistic and not overly helpful.

Lysa TerKeurst." Gale Literature: Contemporary Authors, Gale, 2017. Gale Literature Resource Center. Accessed 23 Mar. 2021. In addition, the author's interpretation of a part in the Bible involving Abigail and King David was way off; this was really surprising. I am still unable to wrap my mind around her interpretation of that Scripture. Acceptance is like an antibiotic that prevents past rejections from turning into present-day infections. The need for belonging runs deep.” This was not a great time in my life to read this book. I was trying to remember my own past rejections as I read, and trying to evaluate whether the book would have been helpful to me in those times when I was feeling rejected in the past, or when I face it again in the future...but I really didn't get much out of it. I can't tell if this is because the book really wasn't as helpful as it should have been, or if it was just that I am not currently feeling rejected which might make it hard to relate to what she was saying. My heart struggles to make peace between God’s ability to change hard things and His apparent decision not to change them for me.”

Dorothy Macardle was born in Dundalk, Ireland in 1889 into a wealthy brewing family, famous for their Macardle's Ale, and was raised Roman Catholic. She received her secondary education in Alexandra College, Dublin – a school under the management of the Church of Ireland – and later attended University College, Dublin. Upon graduating, she returned to teach English at Alexandra.I was so into this book that the least little disruption gave me fits. I really enjoyed this one and can't recommend it highly enough. If like me, you're into older supernatural works (this one is from 1942), then do not miss the novel. While it may seem tame in today's world, there is a LOT going on here and quite frankly, it's downright spooky. Rejection isn’t just an emotion we feel. It’s a message that’s sent to the core of who we are, causing us to believe lies about ourselves, others, and God. #UninvitedBook @LysaTerKeurst
