About this deal

The author of this book knows about hardship. Ben Carson grew up in inner-city Detroit. His mother was illiterate. His father had left the family. His grade-school classmates considered Ben stupid. He struggled with a violent temper. In every respect, Ben’s harsh circumstances seemed only to point to a harsher future and a bad end. But that’s not what happened. Anyone who can’t learn from other people’s mistakes simply can’t learn, and that’s all there is to it. There is value in the wrong way of doing things. The knowledge gained from errors contributes to our knowledge base. ~Don Long

Nedostaje ti motivacija? Break up your goal in steps. When you’re putting your big dreams into practice, recognize that although your end goal is big giving a speech, buying a house, publishing a bestselling book you have to take multiple, smaller steps to get there. The best way to achieve a big goal is therefore to break it up into smaller, more doable steps. Once you have your goal in mind, sit down and make a list of everything that you need to do for that goal to become a reality. This helps you to see it as more achievable and less overwhelming. [5] X Research source Humility is not groveling and telling everyone how worthless we are – humility is knowing who we are and what God is doing and has done in our lives. All knowledge is important - a fact that some people do not want to hear. One of the wonderful things about learning is that knowledge not only translates from from area to another but is also an avenue that leads to understanding and insight."

Career Coach Expert Interview. 18 December 2018. It’s easy to feel like you’re not getting any closer to accomplishing your goals when you’re focused on the little, everyday things you need to do to get there. Celebrating small victories can help you feel like you are accomplishing something because you are! – and keep up your motivation. [12] X Research sourcePeople are simply not willing to look at their problems honestly and admit that they have problems.” First, we cannot overload the human brain. This divinely created brain has fourteen billion cells. If used to the maximum, this human computer inside our heads could contain all the knowledge of humanity from the beginning of the world to the present and still have room left over. Second, not only can we not overload our brain - we also know that our brain retains everything. I often use saying that "The brain acquires everything that we encounter." The difficulty does not come with the input of information, but getting it out. Sometimes we "file" information randomly of little importance, and it confuses us.” Dr. Carson goes on to provide examples supporting this claim. I thoroughly enjoyed the stories from his own life and I am hopeful that they will resonate with students - especially my own children. As a person who loves reading and knowledge, I am troubled by the attitude of those who claim not to enjoy reading. I think Dr. Carson is very perceptive when he claims that the more a person reads, the more they will enjoy it. Ultimately, it is reading that will change a person's life. What do I mean by vague? He starts off the book describing these individuals without diving into without describing what he believes THINK BIG is to his audience. Several times I read, “*INSERT NAME*, who thinks big…,” and I was left wondering what it meant, in Carson’s definition, to THINK BIG. I think it would have been more appropriate to describe what THINK BIG is followed by talking about the other individuals. This would help to drive home points better and it would be clearer how these individuals thought big in Carson’s definition. When we are confronted by failure and mistakes, we can leave them behind and go on with our lives.”
