About this deal

Shared by word of mouth, quoted on the World Wide Web, recited over the radio, and read aloud at spiritual conferences and other gatherings, "The Invitation" has been passed along by thousands who have discovered and treasured its unique message. Now Oriah Mountain Dreamer expands on her beloved prose poem, presenting a powerful and inspirational challenge to all of us who long for true intimacy and joy. I was given an ARC of this book courtesy of the author via Give Me Books Promotions. The excerpts are from that copy. I am voluntarily reviewing this title. * In the first stanza of ‘The Invitation’ the speaker begins as she does approximately half of the stanzas, with the phrase, “It doesn’t interest me.” While the line will become commonplace and lose some of its impact after reading it in different iterations, the first appearance is impactful. It is an interesting way to begin ‘The Invitation’ and provides a pleasing hook for the reader who will want to know more. Yamato, Jen (July 14, 2014). The Invitation: Escape with this epic, page-turning summer

The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I'd received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Scott Shane's outstanding work Flee North tells the little-known tale of an unlikely partnership ... Glamorous and gorgeously written... but vaguely improbable, repetitive and (dare I say it?) a little superficial. I really loved Stella's personality. It was really unique and I had a fun time reading her POV. Her hobbies were so amazing and interesting to the point that I kind of want to try one of them. I loved how she didn't give up on her idea and stood her ground.

The speaker again asks the listener if they would be able to live with disappointment and loss, as well as failure. This is not necessarily their own, it could be hers as well. She wants a lover who can take it all in stride and remain strong in the face of defeat. They should be able to take power from an upset and “shout” out that they have not given up. Their soul is still strong. Hamman, Cody (June 24, 2022). "The Bride: Dracula-inspired film is set for August release under the title The Invitation". JoBlo . Retrieved July 31, 2022. I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine, and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the full moon, ‘Yes.’ Vary, Adam B. (April 7, 2016). Kang, Inkoo. "Karyn Kusama's 'The Invitation' Bought by Drafthouse Films" . Retrieved 10 April 2015. I thoroughly enjoyed "traveling" through Italy while reading The Invitation. The protagonist, Hal, is an interesting character, albeit a lazy one. The writing was a little abundant, and the story could've been pared a bit. There are some contrivances, but this is fiction, right? Some of the lesser characters steal the show: the photographer Aubrey, the Countess, even the drunken film star are well-crafted. War, cast against the cost to family, hits true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself. If you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul.Celebrating Halloween on an isolated island with 12 other people – sounds like a great idea, right? Raised in a small community in Northern Ontario, Oriah’s family encouraged her to bring her questions and explorations to the Christian tradition they espoused. At home in the wilderness she was drawn to and at home in the ceremonies and earth-based teachings of the First People’s, eventually teaching and sharing what she learned. Her daily practice includes ceremonial prayer, yoga, meditation and writing. A graduate of Ryerson University’s social work program (Toronto) and a student of Philosophy at the University of Toronto she has facilitated groups, offered classes and counselled individuals for over thirty-five years. The mother of two grown sons, Oriah lives in Toronto, Canada. Moore, Kasey (December 13, 2022). " 'The Invitation' To Release on Netflix in December 2022". What's on Netflix . Retrieved December 18, 2022. Wise. So very wise is this deep and thoughtful book. It is a wisdom born of one who knows shadows and loss and gathering foundness, joy and genuine ecstasy. The truth-telling courage of Oriah Mountain Dreamer gives us a bracing antidote to the easy answers of the pop gurus. Here is a feast of life with real food to nourish the hungry seeker. I loved every single minute. This is absolutely a 2021 MUST READ - so do not hesitate. GO READ THIS BOOK! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

The Setting: It's a beautiful world they have shot/created, in this movie. A European centered mansion and castle that is sort of the dark version of Downton Abbey. The rooms they play in are immaculate, both high society, but several holding darker undertones that tell a story almost better than the actual words and story itself. I highly enjoyed the realistic manor and sort of felt like a board game or mystery room feel that could have been used so well. The careers of the mcs were very well described, the steps to getting her business launched seemed very realisti I've liked her others much more than this. The kind of elite world and surrounds of such film crowds are just not that interesting to me. Beautiful, beautiful part of the world in Cinque Terre. I've been there and it a good representation of that particular area feel. The power of this piece of poetry comes from its list-like format. As a reader moves through the lines the previous statements build off one another until one is able to imagine the mental, emotional, and spiritual outline of the speaker’s ideal lover. I love this more than words. I think of these words often, especially in times that I feel as though I haven't done much through the years, and I'm sweetly reminded that I HAVE done so much!...

I like that this is more on the adult side, aka he has a daughter and she’s just as much a part of the story as they are. This is still very romance driven; it’s an office romance, he owns the company she’s working under, so there’s some tension there. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own; if you can dance with wildness and let the ecstasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, remember the limitations of being human. This book has great potential: mostly interesting characters, a fascinating era, wonderful settings, and two storylines that weave together well. (It's important to note that I don't typically like "time-traveling" storylines, but this one worked for me—probably because it's not another mysterious-letter-left-in-a-musty-suitcase tale.)Collis, Clark (February 11, 2016). "Mayhem is on the menu in new trailer for The Invitation". EntertainmentWeekly.com . Retrieved February 12, 2016. Another example in the text is at the end of the fifth line of the first stanza in which Dreamer cuts off the line “if you are to dream” before revealing what the dream is. This makes the revelation, which follows in the next line, all the more impactful. The Invitation is an epic love story that will transport you from the glamour of the Italian Riviera, to the darkness of war-torn Spain, and to a golden - if rather haunted - time. Perfect for fans of Kate Morton and Victoria Hislop. Hudson is a swoon worthy hero that will make you melt !They have amazing banter and their chemistry is so good.I find their story refreshing and unique! Well written with empathetic characters. This is the second book I have read by this author and I have really enjoyed them both.’
