Griffin, Nancy; Masters, Kim (1996). Hit & Run: How Jon Peters and Peter Guber Took Sony for A Ride in Hollywood. Simon & Schuster. p. 85. ISBN 0-684-80931-1. Yasharoff, Hannah. "How 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' author Jeff Kinney became the king of COVID-19 book tours". USA TODAY . Retrieved 2021-02-10. One doctor resurfaces dead, his body a bloated, scarred, impossible horror show – with incomprehensible bloody writing on the wall of his high-pressure submarine. The other two scientists are unreachable via radio – but the last message from Clayton Nelson implores the surface world to find and bring his younger brother, Luke, down to the Trieste. This book is about a married couple that are searching a sunken vessel off the coast of Bermuda. They soon discover that this vessel was carrying drugs. The local drug lord wants these drugs. The couple are adamant about not supplying the local drug lord and they are fighting for their lives. Amphibious Physiology and Anatomy: The Deep possesses a hybrid set of human lungs and aquatic gills enabling him to not only breathe on land but also underwater for as long as he likes. He can also endure cold temperatures and see in the dark depths of the ocean.

In The Troop, Cutter managed to get us invested in the fate of the boys trapped on that island. They were kind, smart, scrappy, selfish, brave and even evil in one case. When horrible things happened to them, we cared and felt terrible for them. In that way, The Troop was very Stephen King-like for me. Davidson isn't done borrowing from other material, some of it beneath a writer of his talent. The setting has what could be called "Camp Crystal Lake Echo", where a character finds themselves alone in a remote setting and feels the urge to call out to a friend, thereby alerting the killer exactly where they are. I lost count how many times Luke called out, and this is a character who's seen horror movies like Alien. That annoyed me. Jeff Kinney has 'Wimpy Kid' spinoff book out in April". Yes there are plenty of descriptions of gross things, but when you don't care about the characters, the gross things are far less interesting. Writing about gross things is easy. See this book for that. Writing about characters you care about is a lot harder. See Stephen King for those. I'll start by saying that while Cutter's first book, The Troop, wasn't a perfect book, it was at least a decent one that left me curious to see what the author would come up with next. Let's just say I'm in no way curious about Cutter's third book. Frankly, you couldn't pay me to read it after slogging through The Deep. If you have any questions or want to know more, please shoot me a question. I'm pretty good about responding.

Writers should no longer be allowed to say that someone "was shaking and it had nothing to do with the cold." Enough said. When I first saw this book. I hit request button faster than fat girl can grab up a cake (I resemble that remark)..and then Netgalley you deny me!!! ARGGGG I’m sure plenty of you will disagree with this 5 Star rating come January, but Honey Badger don’t give a shit so she’s giving it all 5. The Deep was on the short list for the British Fantasy Award in the Best Novella category, though it did not win. [12] [13] I hated Clayton with every single fiber of my being. And while I do not need to like every character, any character, actually, this went above and beyond.

There's a great balance of discovery and awe and undersea danger and especially a long-term hope when it comes to the possible cure for the 'gets. (For'gets. A plague on the surface.) It goes ooooh so nice with his nightmares and the way he tries to hold on to a version of reality as something really deep and sinister rises up out of the deep in the actual ocean and his subconscious, too. I kept in step with the characters all the way. The film's score was composed by John Barry, who at the time was most famous for his work on the James Bond film series. [14] In the same manner of a Bond film, Barry collaborated with a high profiled singer for the film's theme song. American singer Donna Summer teamed up with Barry for the film's signature song, titled "Down Deep Inside (Theme From The Deep)". Summer was a singer under contract to the film production company, Casablanca Record & FilmWorks. The song was nominated for a Golden Globe Award [15] and a hit on the U.S. Dance Chart, as well as a top-five singles hit in the UK, and a top-forty hit in the Netherlands.and i would be perfectly willing to read a companion-book to this one that focused on what was happening on the surface either before or during this book, so if that was ever up for debate, know that i would heartily approve. the only disappointment i had with this book is that we didn't get more about the 'gets - the plague that inspires the whole undersea research situation in the first place. because that's what fascinated me from the beginning - the symptoms of the plague that had me rapid-fire self-diagnosing:
