Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition Single Malt Whisky 70cl Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition Single Malt Whisky 70cl

The grinches among us always seem to moan about the festive season getting longer every year, but is that really so bad? Plenty of traditional festivals fall between September and December – a series of excuses to eat different dishes, try different drinks, and enjoy the relaxed company of loved ones.

Like my whisky curiosity, these delicious wines sparked another liquid curiosity and I thought: “Oh no, here we go again.” Another slippery slope of geekdom and enjoyment. My heart will always be in exploring whisky and all its wonderful nuance, but I'm now looking for wine-finished whisky and hopefully a wine finish I’ve tried at least once before. Tamnavulin Distillery has launched its latest creation, a White Wine Cask Edition, following on from the popularity of the Red Wine Cask Editions. Beginning its life in American Oak barrels, the expression moved on to second maturation in sauvignon blanc wine casks. This has long been the tradition of Tamnavulin’s double matured whiskies. The ABV comes in at 40%, the same strength as their previous Red Wine Cask Edition. Nose…Very fresh and fruity, aromas of apple, pear, quince, lemon and lime before deeper notes came calling vanilla extract and chocolate, a citric burst, coconut, you now open the car window as you pass the newly mown lawn. Distilled on 3 November 1978 at Tamnavulin, this single malt spent the next 22 years in a pale Oloroso sherry butt. On 14 February 2001, Signatory bottled the whisky in a release of 548 bottles.

Review / Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition - Blogger

Taste…The palate continues a pleasant sweetness of citric fruits, freshly squeezed blood orange vanilla float, lemon Creamola Foam. there are a mixture of mild spices, with a puff of pepper giving a mild heat. The influence of the white wine cask offers a bright and fruity accompaniment to the sweet, mellow and smooth character of Tamnavulin and taps into consumers’ love of white wine. A finish rarely seen in the retail space, this whisky has an accessible fruity profile as well as offering drinkers greater choice and diversity of flavour without breaking the bank. Enjoy bright and fruity whisky neat with cheese, and pair it the same way you would a glass of wine. For brie or camembert try Tamnavulin’s German Pinot Noir Cask finish, as the fig, cherry and vanilla complement the creamy texture. Gruyère or comté need more floral notes, such as the Spanish Grenache Cask finish, which is delicate enough to cut through the fat. Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition showcases the distinctive orchard fruit character of the Speyside distillery, which complements the flavours enhanced by the white wine finish. In line with Tamnavulin’s tradition of double matured whiskies, this expression began its life in American White Oak barrels, before undergoing its second maturation in Sauvignon Blanc white wine casks. Apple pie is one of the key flavours of Tamnavulin, so serving Double Cask, with its notes of toffee and honey, alongside an actual slice of apple pie makes for a winning pairing. Contemporary Halloween is all about sharing sweet, American-style treats. Spiced pumpkin pie and candied corn are both wonderfully indulgent imports.

Tamnavulin White Wine Cask - No Nonsense Whisky

Nose - Signature orchard green apple notes with banana, ripe honeydew melon and white peach skin. Fresh citrus, green grass, sweet hay with jasmine and vanilla coconut cream. Like ham and pineapple, some unexpected pairings just make sense. The same goes for whisky, which, when partnered with the right foods, can sit comfortably next to dishes from west Africa to Taiwan and everywhere in between. Matured in American oak barrels and sauvignon blanc white wine casks to complement the sweet, mellow flavours of Tamnavulin. The producer has described the whisky as having signature orchard green apple notes on the nose, with banana, ripe honeydew melon and white peach. The mouthfeel is described as lemon, grapefruit and bake apple tart with the finish soft, sweet and fruity. As with wine, red meat works best with a big and bold whisky. One from the Red Wine Cask Edition brings lots of full bodied flavours, helping it pair beautifully with steak. For a hearty beef pie or stew, I’d go for the warmth of the Sherry Cask Edition, with its comforting gingerbread hints. Serve either neat or in an old fashioned.Nothing in the Terms shall exclude or limit our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or for death or personal injury resulting from gross negligence or willful misconduct by us. In the Christian tradition, Christmas Day marks the birth of Jesus. But for many, it’s less significant as a religious occasion than as the start of the end of the year celebrations. Speyside distillery Tamnavulin have announced their latest creation, Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition – following on from the Red Wine Cask Editions. The longest night of the year has been marked since prehistoric times. In the UK, it’s a major event for modern-day pagans, and it’s celebrated by different cultures around the world in a variety of ways.
