On rainy days, a single Gem Bird appears in one randomly-selected region of the island (north, south, east, or west). Approaching the Gem Bird causes it to fly away, dropping a gemstone as it does so. Stardew Valley is a farming game with a story that encourages lots of fishing, mining, and monster combat on the way to becoming a rich farmer. There are few set deadlines and very little pressures besides the goals you set for yourself. There is no AI to compete with and the wilderness provides only the most minor of threats to your progress. There are a wide variety of ways to make money - some that are labor intensive, some that are not. There are many ways to spend money but few ways to actually waste it. That includes custom portraits and sprites, custom farmer appearance, recolors, etc. Most of these mods only affect the players who installed them. Other players won't be affected. If both players have the same mods, they'll see the same visual changes. The exception is Content Patcher farmer appearance mods that add, rather than recolor, the existing sprites. All players need to have the same amount of new sprites ( e.g., hairstyles or shirts) or there can be visual bugs for other players.
