At least, that’s the goal. In this Google Stadia review, we’re going to take a look at the Premiere Edition to see where the service delivers and where it falls behind. Adding games to your library is the best part of Stadia. If you see something, you can play it within seconds. Claiming the free titles with Stadia Pro, the app immediately asked where we wanted to start playing and, sure enough, after a couple seconds of loading, the games started.

Our experience with Stadia was unlike most other outlets. We didn’t encounter much input lag, or, at the very least, not as much as some other cloud gaming services (read our Vortex review for an example of that). Input lag wasn’t an issue, but audio lag was. What’s next for Stadia? The mobile layout has a similar home screen, but also has tabs for the Stadia Store and a feed with videos, news and blog posts from the Stadia team.Both Google Stadia subscriptions have game achievements, the ability to instantly share gameplay captures to YouTube, and cross-platform voice chat.

It’s a solid alternative to a gaming PC, but doesn’t provide as great an experience on a TV or with a controller. It also doesn’t support all PC games, and there’s no guarantee that a publisher won’t pull support from the platform in the future. Stadia is far from perfect, and it still has plenty of issues to fix and room to grow. First and foremost, I hope Google can figure out a way to further democratize access to the platform. It needs to be in more regions, it needs to have even more options for low-speed connections, and it needs to at least have the perception that it's being taken more seriously. Since launch, Google added over 100 new titles to the library. What that tells us is that Google has the power and budget to drop a whole bunch of new games in the same way that Microsoft does with Xbox Game Pass but, also like Game Pass, the well of content will always be limited when compared to other services like Steam that are much less of a walled garden and are entirely more community-driven.Smaller ideas for expansion and improvement are more Google Assistant integration features, the ability to view YouTube videos/streams within Stadia in the app or on Chromecast, streaming from the app or on Chromecast, and so on. Since the games are licensed to Stadia and not a platform like Steam or Origin, the location you’re in matters. That’s not true for other platforms where you can still access, say, your U.S. Steam account through the cloud gaming server. The Verdict The horror game is said to be heavily inspired by the fan-favorite Resident Evil 4--though it's also gotten the very meme-able Lady Dimitrescu for good measure.
