So it’s taken me like what 2 years? I have had this on my shelf with their upcoming videos they do every October “hellweek” it seemed like a perfect read. Even though they haven’t discussed on what happened on their trip on YouTube I really wanna know what happened they could not explain Unfortunately, people saw what they wanted to see, and Sam knew this better than anybody. Still, he couldn’t help but wonder if maybe they should’ve gone to Vegas instead where rowdiness wasn’t just acceptable, it was expected. Too late—here they were, and here they’d remain for the next six days. The car pulled up behind him. A short figure stepped out and ambled toward the driver’s side window. Even from a few feet away, Sam could see the telltale baseball cap—it was the old man from the beach. Gaby Triana writes some pretty scary stuff but took it up a million notches in this book. "Make the benign and beautiful terrifying" is done masterfully in this book. Had never heard of Sam & Colby (not really big on YT) but they have me hooked after this!

Alex betraying the boys? So interesting! This was one of the few things that made sense in terms of them being drugged. But then when he was betrayed when Pauahi (who’s name was misspelled a few different times in the book) escaped? Ugh, amazing. We love instant karma like that. The other big thing I made note of was that there was a lot of “tell, not show” throughout. There’s a heavy focus on dialogue to progress the story rather than seeing into the boys’ inner thoughts and using other means to find out information. (I’m not one to talk, though, since I also focus more on dialogue than description.) It sometimes made it difficult to fully get into the story. I struggled with developing a picture of what the Belle Estate looked like, or what the other characters (beside SNC, Nate, and Alex) looked like. In terms of the boys, it seemed very reliant on us knowing who Sam and Colby are and what they’re all about (which is fair, since probably 99.9% of people who bought the book are fans of them but, if they want success outside of their audience, it could’ve been more descriptive in that regard). When Vine was discontinued, the founders shifted their focus to their YouTube channel, which was launched in 2014. Their YouTube channel began with a much broader focus: they released vlogs, comedy videos, adventure videos, and other content. However, the duo now focuses nearly entirely on their Overnight and Exploration films. When YouTube ghost hunters Sam and Colby head to Kauai for an annual bro trip with two childhood buddies, they’re dying for a break from paranormal investigations—instead, they find themselves at the center of their most horrifying mystery yet.Sam gave her a thumbs-up. He’d heard about the flood she mentioned but didn’t know about the damaged roads to the north. Good thing they’d be staying on the eastern side of the island. It was a lot for a twenty-two-year-old to soak in, but Sam loved a good existential crisis. He couldn’t help but wonder what it all meant, now that he dealt with paranormal stuff all the time. Sam and Colby you guys did a great job writing this book i hope you guys write more books because you both will make the other books fun and funny Read more As the plane made its final approach into Lihue Airport, Sam Golbach stared out the window. Azure waves hugged the towering emerald peaks and sandy white beaches of Hawaii’s fourth-largest island. Like a crystal blue embrace, he thought. He couldn’t wait to get this vacation started. Even though they loved being ghost hunters and entertaining millions on YouTube, they’d been abandoned, stranded, cursed, haunted, and yes, even arrested for trespassing (thanks, Florida!). The roads looked normal, as far as Sam could tell. He wondered if there just hadn’t been any good cars left and the rental car lady didn’t want to admit it. Two hours later, they arrived in the southern town of Koloa, turning into a side street under light rain. Heading down the narrow trail, they finally arrived at a two-story cottage nestled deep in the trees.

The ending was also very strange when they're in the basement and about to be sacrificed. I honestly highly doubt that something like that happened to them, along with Trey being possessed to think there really was a Dark Man that would have given them gifts if he and Georgia had killed the five of them.Sam shook his head at him. No point defending themselves against a man who was clearly set in his ways. Better to give him what he wanted. "Sorry. We’ll be good. We’re just happy to be here. On your island. Thank you for warning us."

This book is a work of fiction. People, places, events, and situations are the product of the author’s imagination. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or historical events, is purely coincidental. Sam are you okay?" I pull him closer to me looking at his face as the mark was placed right on his lips. HOLY CRAP! This book is amazing! I read it all in one sitting & then had trouble falling asleep after. This is the nicer one, she said. Cars get dinged here a lot, especially the closer you get to the North Shore. We had a flood two years ago, pretty much destroyed the roads. She handed him the keys. Be careful."There was a nice sense of nostalgia throughout, specifically when they brought up their YouTube channel, their Vine days, them being arrested, wining a Teen Choice Award, and Corey and the Shadowman. It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and reminded me of how proud I am for how far they’ve come. Overall, I enjoyed this book. I generally enjoy stories like this, but there were a few moments throughout the novel where things just fell a bit flat. Since Nate had to leave early in a few days for his sister’s graduation, Sam knew his FOMO was starting to bubble up. Confirmed. Don’t worry, we won’t have any fun without you.

To the unscrutinizing eye watching their videos, he and Sam looked like two clowns doing anything for a laugh. What few people realized was how hard they worked their asses off. They’d learned business tips that couldn’t be taught in college, could only be experienced firsthand, and look at them now—affording this trip for their friends, winning Teen Choice Awards, going international. Sam cut the engine. They all stepped out, pulling out phones to take photos. Guys, how many bars do you have? Nate asked. That being said, for SNC’s first book and Gaby’s first time working with the boys, it exceeded my expectations. If they were to continue writing books together, I imagine it will get better and better as they get more used to each other and potentially open up more so that their characters become a more accurate depiction of them. The start was so calm and like any vacation would go, mostly planned. But then visiting Trey and all. That messed everything up, it all began from there, it was suspicious from the beginning, being so far from civilisation. This story proved that some go insane over something like that it so insane to think about. I feel bad for Trey, his life was wasted for something so small, I cannot even imagine what it's like. Honestly this book was something else completely, I usually read romance or such but this has actually made me see more what the world can be like.

Love is something that most people cherish and wish to experience. But love is also something so twisted and maddening, that others wish to end it. Alex closed his eyes, crossed his ankles, and feigned sleep. I say we hang out here the rest of the day and hit the beach tomorrow. Just how meta the book was. Like, the quote I included at the top? I laughed for way too long when I read that.
