I don't really know how I feel about the H. I liked his character, but he just wasn't developed enough😭? I genuinely don't know anything about him aside from his daddy issues and weird, unexplainable infatuation with the heroine.Honestly, this book just makes me feel seen. Seriously, reading this story was therapeutic because it reflects many of my own experiences being raised in an evangelical home and the journey I found myself on during college to unlearn those toxic beliefs and form my own. I honestly am so happy Skyler wrote this story because so many of us women have been negatively affected by purity culture and it’s lovely seeing Livvy embark on her own path to healing and discovery. 💕 You would think, the whole set-up of them being really good friends and him always being protective but no he is so annoying.

What happens when a shy virgin raised in purity culture asks her gorgeous, player best friend to take her V-card? Like it is somewhat okay, that he sleeps around - because there was no hope to be with h (h told him so herself) and he wants to forget- BUT why did he do it so open? why did he bring countless OWs around his big love h? Make out with them in front of her? Later in the book he says to h about all the OWs around her "but you never acted jealous" .. This purity book is amazing! It has a great good between scary and romantic parts. The author did a fantastic job of writing an exciting story filled with suspense, drama, and exploring relationships between people of different ages and long-time friends. Finding it very hard to like this heroine right now. “No” means “no” when a woman says it but not when a man says it? Nothing pretty or sexy about a h who doesn’t take no for an answer; a heroine who is so blinded by her own issues that she can’t see how uncomfortable the H is with her constant begging for sex. No matter what her reasons are, her coming on to him while he is clearly rejecting her, is off putting.I understand that for this main chracter, she needed to rebel and go outside the scope of her usual life. I understand that, and I can respect that. My issue is that she forced herself to do things that she didn't necessarily seem comfortable with, and I'm not sure I like the message that sends. But, I digress. My issue had nothing to do with her purity contract and her commentary on purity culture. I appreciated the refreshing honesty that purity culture IS toxic.

Main CharactersA MMC who loses his mind when his shy, sweet, never been kissed best friend finally starts to break out of her shell and flirt with his friends I'm not Christian nor religious and I think the whole purity thing is horrid. The way her dad cried and said she was not a 'little girl' anymore - I wanted to vomit What's even worse is both Cole and Livvy read like fake plastic people. I can't connect to fake plastic people! BookTok did this to me. I'm not sure why it chose to do me this way or what I may have done to warrant this sort of treatment but nonetheless, here I am. Again. Until we share a kiss that makes the world stand still, and I begin to wonder...maybe I've misread him all along.
