About this deal

Is there a seventh book in the Callanach series? I see that the eight is coming out in 2022. I really enjoy this series and always look forward to the next one. But most striking, and something I only fully realised at this novel’s conclusion, is that with each and every characterisation (even those of the least admirable) Fields achieves an uncommon level of emotional nuance and authenticity. The main plot ends with no loose ends (though one point is left for us to assume). The pace slows downs towards the end as the revelation is followed by introspection and some progress in the subplot. A second story of Quinn is going on which seemed unconnected in the beginning but Helen Fields made a connection. A lone bomber in Edinburgh is targeting victims but the link is unknown its left to DCI Ava Turner and D I Luc Callanach to solve the case.

But with the threat – and body count rising –Neither Ava nor Luc know whether they will live long enough to tell the tale… In cases such as these, there is usually some type of motive and the suspect would presumably be an individual that was close to her or involved in Elaine’s life in some way. When she was living, Elaine Buxton had a respectable career as a lawyer and her peers thought highly of her. Could it be some type of disgruntled client or someone involved with a case that had a grudge? The latest instalment in the Helen Fields ‘Perfect’ series. Fans of Ava and Callanch will not be disappointed. Ava Turner is attending the funeral of her dear friend and pathologist, she then has to go and watch the video of how the death happened.I just finished reading One for Sorrow and loved it, but naturally didn’t like the cliffhanger ending. Please tell me there will be another Ava and Luc book. When will it be coming out? I’ve read the rest of them and really loved them and appreciated the writing. Reply When another woman that is a professional in her field disappears, the inspector gets worried. She got taken right from her very own doorstep. Just like that, Luc is in a race to find a killer before it’s too late. The detective now believes that he is in a race against time, and he has to do whatever it takes to figure out whether Elaine and the other woman are alive or dead– and who is responsible for their disappearances in the first place. I genuinely feel this is one of the best books I’ve read all year! Ask anyone who knows me and they’ll tell me how over the past 3 days I kept blurting out how much I’m enjoying it and I can’t stop reading - even to those that have no interest in my love affair with books! DI Ava Turner and DI Luc Callanach have no motive and no leads - until around the city, graffitied on buildings, words appear describing each victim. The opening is very sombre but the author then goes straight in to two explosives scenes that have your heart racing. As the story develops the reader feels as if they are part of the investigation team, questioning exactly what has happened but more importantly, why?

No one has any idea that she might still be out there. A burning corpse of a person usually seems pretty open and shut. Elaine might still be out there, and if anyone might be able to find her, it is Luc Callanach. The Detective Inspector has just been given a nice new office but has barely time to enter it when the case of a missing person is upgraded to murder.

Publication Order of Helen Sarah Fields Standalone Novels

DCI Ava Turner and DI Luc Callanach are struggling to find leads in the case until a doll made of skin is found nestled beside an abandoned baby. This was a tough read - so much sorrow and so many deaths; but it's a great entry in the series which finds Ava and Luc investigating a series of brutal and somewhat ingenious murders, starting off with their great friend, the veteran Medical Examiner, whose horrible demise seems to set the tone of the book. The deeper she digs into the island’s secrets, the closer danger creeps and the more urgent her quest to find the killer grows. Because what if Adriana is not the last girl to die? Alone, trapped in the darkness and with no way out, Bart Campbell knows that his chances of being found alive are slim.
