Remaining battery power is indicated by pressing the mode switch while the TINI 2 is turned off and the OLED screen will display the battery level bar, the voltage, the current mode (demo or daily) and the memorised brightness level. When the battery voltage is below 3.4 V the power indicator beneath the buttons will flash blue every 2 seconds to inform the user to charge the battery. The modes are far more appropriate here than on the T4K due to the size of the light, and the Turbo being limited to 500 lumens keeps things in the realm of “warm but not burning holes in things”. The battery, while relatively small, can still give a decent amount of light out. 45 minutes on high, and 15 on Turbo, is definitely no slouch, and it holds the output pretty steadily until its time is up. The Nitecore TINI 2 SS is a stainless steel version of the popular TINI 2 keyring light. It offers an impressive maximum output of 500 lumens from the 2 x OSRAM P8 LEDs and is powered by a built-in, li-ion battery. The tiny NITECORE TINI 2 (pronounced tee-knee) has two OSRAM-branded LEDs that go all the way up to 500 lumens—TURBO mode, as NITECORE calls it. It’ll drain the 280 mAh battery in less than an hour, but the point stands: it’s more than powerful enough for casual use. It’s not just raw brightness, either. NITECORE baked in some useful modes that maximize battery life, though it takes some memorizing to get the button combinations right. Don’t worry, though, because it has a built-in OLED display to clue you in on what’s going on. It’s not like the fancy OLED display found on TVs and smartphones; it’s a more basic single-color one like the ones found on old MP3 players (remember those?). The small font and size of the display itself aren’t much of an issue regarding readability at night.

The advanced temperature regulation module allows the TINI 2 to regulate its output and adapt to the ambient environment to maintain optimal performance. TINI1 UI was terrible and made me hate that light. TINI2 is a big step in the right direction but there are still many things that I dislike At 3.4V, the buttons will light up blue once every two seconds – I feel this is quite high, and 3.1 or 3V would be perfectly fine. A flash of the main emitters may have On the surface, the TINI 2 is easy enough to operate. There are only two buttons to work with (power and mode), and the OLED display shows all the relevant information you need, such as the modes, battery level, remaining runtime, brightness level, and user mode. NITECORE TINI 2 | The OLED display may be tiny, but it’s full of useful information.The TINI2 does not come with any USB-C cable. Using a XTAR-branded Micro-USB Cable, the battery was charging at ~0.26A. High holds very close to its word; at just before 46 minutes, there’s a brief rise in output, and then a gentle slide down to zero. Medium runs for almost 127 minutes before the slide down, which is a bit down from its stated runtime of 2.5 hours. While it’s a bit larger than other keychain lights in their stable, for example, the TIKI, it’s still suitably small to carry on a keychain, and the weight is low enough to not really notice it. It is powered by a built-in 280 mAh lithium-ion rechargeable battery which is recharged via the USB-C charging port located on the side of the torch. Remove the dust cover and plug in a USB-C cable (not included) at one end and plug the other end into a USB port or a compatible USB adaptor. The indicator will blink slowly and the screen will display battery status while charging is in progress and once charging is complete after approximately 1 hour, 45 minutes the indicator will be solid and the screen will display a full battery icon. A battery protection circuit is incorporated that provides over-discharge, over-charge and anti short circuiting protection.

The OLED display the new TINI2 is equipped with is really well done and legible. Excellent operation and simple user interface complete with 5 levels and 2 modes of use managed by two switches. I'm glad I did! The LED screen is great and the various modes go all the way from nightlight mode to a pretty respectable 500 lumen bright light. The built-in timer functionality is really great as well. Admittedly, the TINI 2’s many functions and modes take some memorizing. The button combos can be a bit of a head-scratcher, so it may be worth keeping the instruction manual around, saving the PDF, or maybe bookmarking their online video (which is quite entertaining in and of itself). Pay close attention to the water and dustproof rating: the TINI2 adheres to the IP54 norm. This means that, despite the fact that it was made from 'one piece', it cannot be submerged in water for a longer period of time. Last, but not least: the beamshots This is going to sound quite familiar to the T4K review – the general construction of the light is very similar with regards to how it’s put together. This definitely isn’t a bad thing though, as having the internals of lights accessible to those with the know-how to repair things is always appreciated.In DAILY mode, the flashlight will remain on until the user turns it off manually. The "TURBO" level is only momentary by holding down the "MODE" button. We found that the runtimes are about 10% to 20% less. Usually you do not have a full charge because you are carrying it around on your keychain.

The TINI2 has a small LED display that displays the mode and remaining runtime, as well as other settings. It's small, so it may be challenging to read for those who don't have the best vision. In DEMO mode (default) the light turns off automatically, within 30 seconds, if there is no operation. The countdown will be indicated on the multifunction display. However, the Nitecore TINI series is unique in the sense that they are so light and portable, there is almost no reason to not have it clipped with your keys for that extra lumen power. Style To turn on Demo mode, press the Power button and Mode button at the same time to switch between DAILY and DEMO modes. The LED will flash once to indicate DEMO mode and twice for DAILY mode. There are a lot of similarities between the two lights – this is also a keychain light, has emitters under a TIR, uses the same UI as the T4K, the same OLED screen – but that’s where the similarities end.The Nitecore TINI2 is very beautiful. Nitecore has managed, through excellent construction and a well-designed design, to insert in a small space a well-readable OLED display, 2 light emitters (LEDs), 2 electronic switches and a USB-C charging port. Under the OLED display there are the two electronic switches with which we will manage the TINI2. The two switches are not protruding, but are placed in a recess I think for greater protection against accidental activations. No problem finding the two switches in the dark. As can be seen from the symbols above these, one has an ON / OFF function (Power Switch) and with the other we will vary the 4 levels available beyond the momentary Turbo (Mode Switch). The operational buttons comprise of a power button and a mode button. The power button turns the TINI 2 on with a short press and then the mode button cycles through ultra-low, low, mid and high with each press. A single press of the power button will turn the light off. The TINI 2 will remember the last used brightness level the next time it is turned on. It's been awhile since my review of the Nitecore TINI SS, the mini flashlight that is with me on all of my travels and by the side of my bed each night. As you can imagine, the chance for travel is significantly lesser these past few months, so, in some ways, the Nitecore TINI 2 came at a bad time.

Unfortunately, we’re not reviewing a travel-sized ice cream machine anytime soon (but wouldn’t that be a game-changer?). Travel-sized flashlights, though, that’s right up our alley.
