The opening scene drops you right into the action: unhappy with his lot, Victor wants out of his marriage. Director Jake Smith says: “Sleepy Hollow is undoubtedly one of the greatest horror stories ever written and a tour de force to stage. The production has at its heart the power of nomadic storytelling and gathering round the campfire for a good ghost story. It is an important story for now as we look at conversations around the identity of nations, communities and humankind throughout the world.” Coronation Street alumni Wendi Peters and Bill Ward will star in Philip Meeks’s stage adaptation of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow Sensational new staging of Agatha Christie’s world-famous thriller MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS tours exclusively to Bath Daphne has aspirations to be a crime reporter and fancies herself as an amateur detective. And this is one of the curious aspects of this book. It seems that Daphne is already rather good friends with Inspector Marklow who leads the ensuing murder investigation. It is apparent that she has already had some success as an amateur sleuth, so I assumed that Daphne features in Ada Moncrieff's previous Christmas mystery, but this doesn't seem to be the case at all.

As well as three plays by recognised thriller writers, the 2021 collection includes one play by Classic Thriller Season regular John Goodrum who has adapted the mysteries of G K Chesterton into Father Brown—the Murderer in the Mirror. whatsgoodtodo.com is a trading name of Toys and Clothes Limited which is a company registered in England and Wales with company number 04638670 It's Christmas at London's Theatre Royale and journalist Daphne King is determined to solve an extraordinary mystery... On a less positive note, I found myself repelled at times by the sheer unpleasantness of the characters. Jake, for example—who I concede has legitimate reasons for disliking his absent father—doesn’t reveal any tenderness or vulnerability to temper his youthful angst. Similarly, twentysomething Anna is mostly defined by her obsession with mobile phone reception. Now Meeks will return with his stage adaptation of The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving’s 1820 tale of the Headless Horseman, from October 5 to 9, when Wendi Peters, from Coronation Street, and Bill Ward, from Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Before We Die, will lead the cast and Filipe J Carvalho will provide the stage illusions.

Over the last twenty years, Torben Betts has built up a reputation for writing dark comedies of social embarrassment. In Invincible, for example, the pomposity of a well-to-do couple is punctured when they invite over their refined neighbours for some non-alcoholic drinks and nibbles. Box office phone lines open from 10am – 6pm Monday - Saturday. Closed Bank Holidays, except when there is a performance when Box Office opens at 12noon Better still, head to the Theatre Royal, Newcastle, this week to see how international bestselling author Peter James does it. The rollercoaster plot was farce at its very best. It’s a play that may surprise those who’ve read the book. There is plenty of humour in both plays and the plots feature a man eager to kill his wife so that he can cash in an insurance policy.

The ensemble cast includes a very dashing DC Roy Grace – played by Benjamin Wilkin – a young detective keen to make a good impression. The acting is tight and effective, although I feel that we deserved a little less stereotyping. The set is brilliantly envisaged by Simon Kenny; my only reservation here being the realisation of the last scene. However, lighting by Paul Pyant, cleverdesign by Simon Kenny, and atmospheric sound devised by Max Pappenheim worked in unison to create unsettling and at times terrifying effects.

He was taken to prison again after that where he smashed a water jug and proceeded to cut his feet with it to ‘purge away his sins’ whilst claiming he was the ‘Supreme Being’. After some time, he got well again and escaped to Calais, where he then took a boat to Dover, arriving in London in September 1795. but since almost every character is described in this way : age, height, hair etc it becomes tedious.
