About this deal

The best part? It’s super hydrating, too. “I have dry skin — like, DRY, dry skin,” our tester says. “I haven't tried many cleansers that don't leave me feeling stripped (yes, even cleansing balms), but this one left me feeling soft with some of the most minimal drying that I've ever experienced. I'm a huge fan.” Warm thanks to JUNOCO for partnering with me! I’m so happy to have discovered a new daily staple that loves both our skin and our planet. When it's time to remove the day's makeup — and dirt, oil, and everything else you don't want to go to sleep wearing — a cleansing balm may be a great addition to your nighttime routine. "A cleansing balm is an oil-based formula that helps break down even the most stubborn makeup without any tugging," L.A.-based makeup artist and content creator Ourfa Zinali tells PEOPLE Tested. "It does the same thing a cleansing oil does, however, it's less messy; think of them as sisters. It can also be used on bare skin to remove any impurities, SPF, etc. at the end of your day." While this cleansing balm is free of synthetic fragrances, it’s naturally scented with ginger root, mandarin, and neroli oils, so expect a fresh, albeit strong, scent when you twist this skincare savior open. Now, if you’re like me, hearing the words “cleansing” and “balm” together might seem odd. But trust me when I say it’s a game-changer for your skin routine!

Our tester reports having very dry skin — "I haven't tried many cleansers that don't leave me feeling stripped and dry (yes, even cleansing balms)" — but this one left her feeling soft with “some of the most minimal drying that I've ever experienced." She's dubbed herself a huge fan. One thing to note, though, is that because it’s infused with so many essential oils, it does feel a bit oily. Our tester has oily, acne-prone skin and enjoyed using it, albeit sparingly. She thinks it's best suited for those with normal to dry skin. Though our tester didn’t have the best experience, we felt it was important to mention it because many of our editors swear by this balm and think it’s still a stellar option.

Expect our products to be environmentally conscious: microplastic-free and FSC certified packaging.

The one downside for our tester is that it caused her to break out. “I have really sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts with new products,” she admits, pointing out that it’s not necessarily an issue with the product itself. That said, it’s formulated with coconut oil, which tends to be a pore-clogging culprit. Once you feel it starting to melt, apply to your dry face, and begin to gently massage in circular motions all over your face.

You don’t have to use them for just cleansing, either. “I love applying a balm to dry skin and leaving it on for 20 minutes as a mask to give my dry skin a little TLC,” Tavernise says. I love to use this just to remove everything from my face after I use the JUNOCO Cleansing Balm (more like a cloth), but I also like to use it in combination with the Cleansing Balm. Both ways are perfect for helping you remove all the residue on your face. The stand out (so far) is the cleansing balm with only ten ingredients but delivers a perfect cleanse. Juno is founded in California and is 100% focussed on Gen Z (approx up to age 25) hence a big TikTok presence and a collaboration with Spongebob Squarepants (waitlist of 63K apparently) that put them in front of the eyes of their target audience. It’s been growth ever since and can only be a matter of time before its ready for sale. Juno Skin Review A launch from founder Alicia Keys' brand, this super-soft balm feels silky to the touch and smooths on easily without any tugging; it's just the right balance of oil and balm. Only a light amount of rubbing produces a smooth, slippery oil on the skin that's very effective at removing sunscreen and makeup. This is in large part thanks to bamboo charcoal which works like a magnet to draw impurities from the skin. It's also got shea butter to help nourish the skin and restore the skin barrier. JUNOCO you might know them as JUNO & Co, but they recently changed their name to JUNOCO, which is a new-generation beauty brand. Now, it’s time to go treat yourself to the Juno Clean 10 Cleansing Balm. You’ll save 10% on all natural skin and beauty staples with code “ THEKAREBEAR10“ Unlike similar products we've used in the past that left our oily skin feeling even more oily, we loved that this cleansing balm left the face feeling clean, balanced, and hydrated. Those of us with dry skin also loved how gentle and hydrating it felt while still providing the adequate cleanse we needed. It takes very little effort to remove a full face of makeup, has a nourishing formula, doesn’t leave a greasy residue behind, and is affordable, making it a product we can't recommend enough. It's recommended that most people use a traditional cleanser after removing makeup with a cleansing balm. Since balms are oil-based, they can leave a residue behind, so it's especially key for those with acne-prone skin to double-cleanse. The exception would be those with dry skin, who might feel more clean and comfortable cleansing with a balm only as the first step in a nightly skincare routine. For all but those with very dry skin, Zinali suggests a cleansing balm followed by a gentle foaming cleanser: "The aftermath is worth it — you feel so soft and supple." This cleanser was effective at removing SPF, foundation, eyeshadow, and mascara (non-waterproof) in one go. We applied it to dry skin and then removed it with a warm, damp towel — no rinse necessary. Sometimes, formulas similar to this can leave makeup smudged around the eye area, but we were pleasantly surprised by how well this one dissolved and lifted dark pigments.

Our tester raved that this popular cleansing balm "lives up to the hype". We found it easy to work across the skin, particularly as the consistency changed from balm to oil to cleansing milk for an enjoyable sensorial experience that effectively cleansed the skin as well. Due to nourishing oils like elderberry, sweet almond, and starflower, this balm cleanser helped keep our skin feeling soft and not stripped whatsoever. Drunk Elephant Beste No. 9 Cleanser: This Drunk Elephant Cleanser has more of a similar formula to the Fresh Soy Cleanser, as it’s lightweight and gel-like, but it’s still very nice, non-stripping and cleansing the face. So if you don’t mind a thinner formula, you will really like this! If you have sensitive skin, then you know how irritated it can get when you need to scrub or tug to remove your makeup. If this experience sounds familiar, then we highly recommend that you invest in this cleansing balm. The texture is buttery soft, allowing it to break down makeup and glide effortlessly across the skin, and it’s formulated with centella asiatica—also known as tiger grass—which is a plant used in Korean medicine for its healing benefits.Eye makeup was easily removed without scrubbing, but our tester's sensitive skin did flare up a bit after the first use. However, once she acclimated to it, she was able to use it more regularly and her skin never felt the same sensation, just a notably refreshed feel. She also noticed that her skin had a healthy sheen to it and that her pores actually appeared to be less noticeable. "I think I'm a convert, and so now I'm going to recruit folks to come with me. " In this case, California-based JUNOCO specializes in natural beauty and skincare. So, all products are vegan and cruelty free.
