About this deal

Joining the wave of innovation that has swept through the home fitness and training realms over the past few years is the Hydrow Rower. You could even describe it as the Peleton of the rower world, which is a compliment to both brands, in our books. Overall the JLL R200 rowing machine is a fantastic entry-level machine. If you’re looking to get into shape or want an easy way to add some cardio into your training then this could be the machine for you. For starters, rather than rely on a folding mechanism (which can be a bit fiddly, not to mention, a potential point of weakness or failure), Dripex's rowing machine opts for a stronger, more stable design. Instead of faffing around with levers and pins to fold it, simply tip the whole thing up and let it rest on its front, with the main sliding rail standing straight upwards. Because the main rail is bolted to the flywheel section, there's nary a wobble or shake to be found. And thanks to built-in wheels it can easily be rolled out of the way when not in use.

The screen is small but it displays the necessary information efficiently. Certain parts of this rowing machine like the foot cradles and handlebar feel a little cheap and may not last. It’s a shame there’s no device stand, but that’s not a dealbreaker for me. While rowing, the R200 is reasonably quiet, although it does occasionally get a mysterious rattle under the seat that eventually seems to resolve itself. The rower gets used about six times a week in our household, and has stood up well to that level of use for six months. For anything above a very basic model, prepare to spend at least a few hundred pounds. But it’s worth the cash if you want a durable, full-body workout machine — and in the comfort of your own home. What is the best rowing machine? Water-resistance models are designed to mimic the experience of real rowing, using large water-filled tanks and internal paddles to create resistance. They’re relatively quiet and often designed from wood and so are aesthetically fetching. The major disadvantage is cost – they’re rather expensive and offer less functionality than the top machines. Initially I found the pull to be slightly lumpy – there seemed to be an inconsistency with the resistance during the pulling motion. After a couple of weeks however, this seemed to smooth out and I stopped noticing it.

What Makes the JLL R200 the Best Cheap Rowing Machine?

The LCD is a little on the small side which does make it difficult to read when rowing full tilt but it is well positioned and displays well even in brightly lit spaces. This is a minor gripe of ours and certainly isn’t a deal breaker. Don’t expect much in the way of device connectivity as there isn’t any but to be honest it isn’t needed and if you are looking for a good quality rower that just works and is low cost then this is it. Measuring up at just 71cm (l) x 52cm (w) x 127cm (h) when folded this is an exceptionally compact rowing machine. When in use the length is 180cm in total with the width remaining the same and the total height becoming 58cm. The JLL R200 combined with belt-driven wheel and magnetic resistance so you can get a smooth and quiet motion without disturbing anybody. Most buyers thought that the R200 rower was excellent value for money. Yes, it is plastic, though considering the mechanism and price point, it would have been difficult to make it out of titanium. The rowing machine itself uses magnetic resistance, which doesn’t offer the most realistic rowing feel, though it provides enough challenge for even fairly advanced rowers. But more importantly, the magnetic resistance system is quiet, which can’t be said for the fan-operated opposition.

JLL® R200 Home Rowing Machine, 2023 Model Rowing Machine

The JLL R200 rowing machine is a good-quality budget rower. It isn’t going to win any awards for design or advanced functionality, but if you are looking for a good-quality rowing machine that is comfortable to use, easy to store and that is going to last for years to come then the R200 has to be a top consideration – especially if your budget is tight.

Is a water rowing machine better?

The seat is well padded and the seat rail is a good size and offers a very smooth ride indeed. The handles are equally comfortable and the feet pads are a good size and feature adjustable straps. I don’t have too many issues with the R200 rower. Yes, it would be nice if the maximum capacity was higher but it’s still decent considering the machine is made from aluminum. The cheaper models can’t have everything, otherwise, they wouldn’t be cheaper models.
