The pedal is controlled with standard touch controls next to the screen. There are Comp, FXA, Drive, Amp, Cab, EQ, Ng, FXB, Delay, Store, System, Drum, Exp, Tuner, Loop, Ctrl, and Output touch buttons to shape your tone. The pressing force of the EXP1 pedal to switch On/Off state can be set on the “EXP CALIBRATION” screen. While holding down the front end of the pedal with appropriate force, press the Value Knob to confirm the force.

The pedal also features high precision with 24bit/44.1kHz audio processing, which increases the sound quality significantly.

The amps and cabs had names that were suspiciously similar to some very famous pieces of equipment, which did make it a little easier to dial in tones, but what we really thought was missing was a comprehensive list in the instructions.

The pedal offers some presets to start playing immediately, but they need a bit of adjustment, at least in my opinion. The default presets are not the best, which is a con for the pedal. After the adjustments, you can get some great tones out of the pedal, but the navigation and adjustments with the standard controls take some time. Recommend using the power supply that is equipped with the Arena2000, because mismatches and noise may occur when using other power supplies. While it does have the ability to load impulse responses, this is something we didn’t get around to trying. This is another area that was noticeably missing from the instructions, and if there’s a potential V2 in the works, we’d like to see Donner make this process a little clearer.There are two modes of operation for Arena2000 footswitches: Preset Switching Mode and Control Mode. Harley Benton DNAFx Pro has four footswitches and fewer knobs in the physical design, which makes it a bit more simplistic and easier to use. The processor has a 3.5” TFT color screen on the front panel that shows the effect modules and helps navigate through different parts of the pedal, such as tuner, looper, effects, amp and cab models, and more. However, the screen is not a touch screen which would have made everything so much easier when navigating or shaping your tone.
