As we are an independent shop within the Garden Centre, our opening times differ from the garden centre.Cernit Nature : 3 colours with a stone and dirt effect thanks to strands in the clay that allows an irregular aspect, similar to the one of a stone. Available in 56g. If you can find Translucent Pardo Art Clay, then by all means buy it and have fun. It’s a fantastic clay to work with. Cernit Polymer Clay has the widest range of translucent colors - see the Blue Bottle Tree review at Colored Translucent Polymer Clay Amber (721), Bordeaux (411), Emerald Green (620), Glitter Gold (050), Glitter Silver (080), Glitter White (010), Lime Green (605), Orange (752), Phosphorescent (024), Ruby Red (474), Sapphire (275), Translucent (005), Turquoise Blue (280), Violet (900) This was the first translucent clay I came across and at first I was a bit confused as to what I was supposed to do with it. After much experimenting I found a couple of things that it works really well for:Place a layer of translucent white on your project with Cernit Number One to give them some clarity. Once sanded, the piece acquires a varnished look. The range also contains a phosphorescent colour that gives originality to your pieces. The translucent range comes in 56g, 250 and 500g. Like all polymer clays, Cernit should not be baked at a higher temperature than recommended. Preheat your oven to 110-130 ° C and bake for 30 minutes. I also use a food processor to condition difficult clay. Though I’ve not had too much trouble with Kato if it’s fresh. It’s only my old stuff that’s crumbly. Pardo translucent is by far the clearest translucent clay available. You can place four sheets of thin Pardo translucent on top of each other, each with a different effect, and still be able to see through to the bottom sheet. This translucent clay has a lot of problems to go with it though. It's much harder to find and is much more expensive than other polymer clay brands. It's also a lot harder to work with as even the slightest air bubble will cause significant plaquing. This clay can be rewarding, but you need a lot of patience and it's expensive.

I started this experiment fully expecting that Translucent Pardo Art Clay would be the clearest translucent polymer clay. So imagine my surprise when in this side by side direct comparison we see that Pardo Translucent Art Clay, while very transparent, is not appreciably more transparent than other brands, in particular Cernit and Premo. It is obvious in this photograph, though, that Sculpey III and Kato Translucent are not particularly translucent. (***See note below about Kato Polyclay.) Results by Brand Name Pardo Professional Art Clay The less clear brands of translucent polymer clay work nicely for faux stone effects and to give a less chalky effect to your colors. It is indispensable for creating certain faux stones, for example, jasper or tiger eye. If the stone you are imitating does not require a high level of transparency, Kato translucent works well to create a realistic looking faux effect. Mix into Cernit colors 1 -10 parts or more. Whenever you bake Premo translucent clay make sure you cover it with paper on both sides of the bead to protect it from gettingCernit Doll: 7 colours that have a skin-like effect (slightly transparent) and one translucent flesh colour.
