Yes you should. Although the amount of noise produced by a garden shredder can vary between brands and models, long term exposure to loud noise can cause permanent hearing damage. That is why it is a good idea to wear hearing protection. Cable length is an unimpressive 4m. For most practical purposes you are likely to need to use an extension lead. Remember, that 2200W motor uses a fair bit of current. You will need a heavy duty, 13amp fused, outdoor extension lead. It’s a minor inconvenience but an inconvenience nevertheless. My shredder has worked well for the past 3 years but now as soon as I switch it on , it switches off again after 2-3 seconds , even with no load. Use short strokes to run your sander over the blade’s beveled edges. Make sure that you keep them in line with the angle of the bevel. Hopelessly unreliable, this shredder. I have twice had mine replaced under guarantee because it kept turning itself off (as per Norman P) and now my third one has started to do it, But I am now out of guarantee. Don't buy one!
When the shredder starts up after a period of inactivity, therefore with a cold engine, it immediately revs up and then switches off automatically.
