Chapter 1: It has a good source of information like pantry suggestions, essential ingredients, kitchen tools, baking equipment, and other information. It also covers things like cuts like rough cutting nuts, slicing fruit, and even zesting. It covers the different methods of cooking and heat. There is even a glossary of baking lingo. I could have used this when I started baking. Others take a baking course to learn Baking 101 first, then practice artisan bread baking with Paul Hollywood’s Bread in their hands. Chapter 2: Fundamental Skills- This section reminded me that not many kids know the basics with cooking. This book would make a great elective for homeschool family or any kid wanting to learn how to bake. This section goes over your basics like prepping pans, handling eggs, separating eggs, measuring ingredients, and melting, mixing. It even covers the difference between stirring, creaming, cutting in, folding, and whipping. Did I mention that there are pictures so you can see many of the skills and techniques? It just doesn’t have photos for all the recipes. Some learn through mistakes by making every recipe from the best baking cookbook inherited from their grandma.
