About this deal

After a long pause, Karina indicated that it was safe to continue and the four of them left the safety of the building and stopped to examine a scene they knew all too well: the playground of Mountain Oak Elementary School. The standee characters are full of sass and have a little bit of diversity about them. The custom die is fun too. The rest of the cards, characters, the zombie manual and the board are all good looking.

Last Night on Earth: Embrace the silly tropes and ridiculous characters of the cheesy horror genre in this very self-aware zombie adventure. Zombie Kidz Evoluution is a great introductory legacy game. The low price means that it offsets the legacy elements slightly more than if the price were double or triple the RRP. For the price the components are great and the box is travel sized with slots in the plastic inlay that hold everything securely. The initial puzzle of the game is very beginner friendly, the colors are bright and the color-coded dice means that play is fast no matter the age level or experience of the players. The legacy elements keep the game interesting and build up the complexity slowly to allow the players to learn the rules in stages while increasing the challenge as they become more comfortable with the gameplay.

Whatever flavour of zombie game you're into, they all require loaded guns, steeled nerves, and juicy brains. Dead of Winter Work with (or betray!) your friends to survive a wintery zombie apocalypse In Dead of Winter, the zombies are your only threat - you'll also need to deal with the freezing weather and a traitor among your group. Despite its potential complexity, the game is highly customisable with multiple difficulty levels that greatly alter the gameplay and add entirely new mechanics - hence all the rulebooks. If you like the zombie genre but want your tabletop gaming with a bit more meat on its bones, Dawn of the Zeds is the zombie board game for you.

Including the clones in the game added another level of strategy because while your clone is active you’re able to move it as a second piece on your turn. The downside is that you lose the use of your special ability. And because clones are added to and removed from the board when you roll a white face on the die, there were plenty of times when you were actually disappointed to roll a white. Final Thoughts: Zombie Kidz Evolution Stole My Heart (and Both Kidneys)Despite its small size, the fun components really help sell the theme. Equipping a little plastic chainsaw on your meeple before heading out to hunt some zeds is always fun, and who can resist placing their meeple in the little wooden police car before crashing into the hardware store? Tiny Epic Zombies isn't only one of the best Tiny Epic games, it also keeps up with its bigger siblings on this list. If you’ve played the original Zombie Kidz then the mechanics of this game will be familiar to you. I’m not going to go deep into gameplay, but I will cover the basics. Also this will be a mostly spoiler-free review, with one or two high-level exceptions. I’ll make a point of calling those out when I get to them and you can choose to skip over them if you like. Zombicide The ultimate zombie adventure RPG-in-a-box Zombicide is among the biggest and best zombie board games going, offering an RPG-like campaign across multiple scenarios. In short, the designer and Iello Games took a fun experience and made it even better. Zombie Kidz Evolution boasts higher-quality artwork, pumped-up colors, better quality components, and the best gaming experience I’ve ever had with my kids. My Thoughts and Some (signposted) Minor Spoilers Harrison (13): It’s a great game, I really enjoy it. I think it looks awesome and I like how the game changes over time.

I’d never played a legacy game before ripping the shrink wrap off Zombie Kidz Evolution. For those that aren’t aware a legacy game is one which changes as you play. They are generally not replayable as the game evolves quite dramatically over the course of the game. Despite being a popular mechanic, legacy game offerings are scarce on the market. On their turn a player must first roll a custom die which determines where a new zombie is placed onto the board. The die has 6 differently colored faces (red, green, blue, purple, yellow, and white). Roll anything other than white and you must place the next zombie in line onto that colored space, roll a white and you’re spared for that turn; a one in 6 chance of a temporary retrieve from the horde waiting just outside. City of Horror: Cosy up to your fellow players for when the time comes to vote to throw one of your dwindling survivors to the zombies.

All donations are gratefully received and will help me keep the lights on here – as well as help to keep my writing dream alive! This is a must have for board gaming families and well suited for young gamers. Being a co-operative game, it removes the awkwardness of Dad always winning and walking away with the monopoly money while everyone storms off to the separate corners of the house to sulk, and instead replaces it with excitement and high-fives as you complete another level, open another envelope, and begin a new mission. Last Night on Earth's tactical combat, multiple scenarios and hero survival has been replicated many times over the decade-plus since its release (including by some of the games on this list), but what keeps it shelf-worthy is its endearingly self-aware theme that focuses on cheesy fun over brains.

It's always an excellent service with brilliant products at a very competitive price - will use again! The evolution of the game happens gradually, which is helpful for players who get overwhelmed or impatient with a lot of rules. The individual envelope only introduces a couple of new things each, and they always build upon rules you already know. The rule book is well laid out in simple statements and with several pictures to illustrate them. Most components are of smooth, good quality cardboard of a decent size. Name a popular gaming theme, and chances are there's a Tiny Epic version of it. Tiny Epic Zombies recreate the classic mall survival scenario, with locations, weapons, heroes and meeples squeezed into the series’ signature tiny box. The Walking Dead: All Out War: The infamous characters of Robert Kirkman's comic book series wage miniature war across an undead-filled battlefield. Dead of Winter features a number of cooperative scenarios, along with an optional secret traitor. Each survivor must work together to keep their fledgling colony alive by scavenging for resources in the surrounding buildings, saving survivors and building barricades, while secretly furthering their personal ambitions, whether they align with the rest of the group or not. If a horde reaches a building, that building is overrun and the zombies build a trampoline. They can use this trampoline to overrun the next building if they move again before you defeat them.
