About this deal

Learn the Fantastic Foundations approach through a one day training course with creator, Jane Considine. You will spend the day learning the system amongst like-minded teachers and those within the teaching profession. You will be armed with the tools and techniques needed to implement the system immediately into your classroom. By using these lenses, pupils will become more confident on the range and repertoire of aspects to showcase in their independent writing. This approach supports a systems view to teaching writing that can be applied to any text, novel, picture book or film. At Whitehouse Primary School we are very proud of our pupil’s handwriting and take particular care in our cursive/joined-up handwriting style. We use Letter-join as the basis of our handwriting policy that covers all the requirements of the 2014 National Curriculum. The FANTASTICs system, which is also used in the teaching of reading, allows children to identify the nine elements that all text types are comprised of. When pupils are familiar with these nine elements, they are able to ensure that they are incorporated into their writing. The FANTASTICs help children to sharpen their understanding of their own and others’ writing by encouraging them to be observant and reflective.
