About this deal

It can feel like a big decision to start breast pumping and many mums wonder, ‘Is it worth it?’. If you’ve already got breastfeeding established, it can seem a shame to upset the balance and - truth be told - a breast pump isn’t always essential. First, try readjusting the pump, making sure it’s aligned with the way that your nipple is pointing and ensuring it’s snuggly fitted in your bra so it can’t shift about. If your nipple is rubbing against the sides of the breast shield, you may need to swap the flange for a wider one. No matter what size chest you have, you’ll be able to find a breast pump to fit. Wren’s hands-free pump comes with three different sized breast shield adaptors, which you can swap around to find one that fits your nipple.

Once set up, the Wren felt quite instinctive to use. You just slot the pumps inside your nursing bra, pop your nipple inside the breast shield, and turn on. When you switch the pump on, it automatically goes into stimulate mode, before switching to expressing after 2 minutes. There are 5 suction levels settings on both the stimulate and express modes, allowing you to tweak the suction intensity. I tended to go for setting two or three, so I could feel the tugging but it wasn’t too ferocious.

The Pippeta Hands-Free Breast Pump is another popular option for expressing mamas on the go. This cordless pump fits seamlessly into a nursing bra and comes with two soft silicone flanges, allowing you to customise the fit and make sure that milk flows smoothly and without leaks while pumping. Really efficient once flow gets going, have regularly filled the bottles (150ml) in less than 10 minutes, making this a life saver. Whilst our pumps are small and mighty, they do need to be treated with care when it comes to charging them up. Combination feeding mixes breastfeeding with bottle feeding, to keep your baby nourished when you’re away. If you are pumping as well as breastfeeding, combination feeding can give you the best of both worlds: cosy, one-to-one feeding time with your baby, plus the freedom to go to work or pop out on your own when you need flexibility.

Likewise, you may want to spend a little more to enjoy the lightweight portability of the Fraupow Wearable Breast Pump. It's similar in size and features, however at just 218g but with a 130ml milk capacity, it holds more milk and reduces time to stop and empty the milk chamber! Want to know more?

They called me to suggest adding the kit since it wont work with out it and they did not ask for extra delivery cost because I already paid with the main machine. It can take a while to get combination feeding established, as you’ll need to find a bottle that your baby will accept (without rejecting your nipple) and gradually swap regular feeds at the boob for bottle feeds until everyone is used to the new process. A guide to breast pump sizing I'll admit I was overwhelmed when I opened the box. The original pump I own is a single one, but the new double has a lot of parts to it and various cleaning instructions to follow before first use. I am really lazy and not very good at following manual instructions so thankfully, there were some really simple video tutorials on Google and on the app which I would highly recommend watching. You only have to sterilise the pump before your first use and then it requires just a cold, then hot then cold water rinse after each use after that, which really takes the hassle away.
