The brother and sister go on an adventurous ride which involves the sister gathering items along the way which enable her to follow her younger brother who has been swallowed whole by a huge monster. The story is a little like 'there was an old woman who swallowed a fly' in that subsequent monsters then swallow the previous monster with little Louis still inside. The continuity of the story is lovely with the big sister following, using the items she has gathered to help her follow over canyons, the sea and perilously high cliffs. The Day Louis Got Eaten - Andersen Press

Luke really enjoyed this book and the fact that "unfortunately" each strange and unusual creature gets eaten by another bigger creature after the Gulper eats Louis.

Two siblings go on a bike ride that turns into an adventure when the brother, Louis, gets eaten by a monster! His sister, Sara, is determined to rescue him from the belly of the beast, but some challenges come her way. Silly, quirky twists keep any age reader on their toes in this adventure book. When Sarah's brother, Louis, is eaten by a Gulper, Sarah does not panic but follows the trail as the Gulper is eaten by a series of other creatures until finally she has her chance to rescue Louis from them all Knot the yarn around the center of the anchor, then wrap it around a few more times and knot again. Audience: Since this is a picture book, this could be read to students from elementary to high school to highlight different important topics. However, it could be very effective if used in a Biology, Earth Science, or other science-based class. Though it is aimed to be fun and silly, a teacher could definitely use it to lighten up some curriculum topics and illustrate how even older students can benefit from the use of picture books in the classroom.
