Maybe it's because I like the characters, or maybe its the supernatural. Maybe its because since I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer last year on Netflix and I have been searching for, not a replacement because nothing can replace Buffy, but a suitable second to Buffy. To start the project, MTV’s research team provided me with an outline that listed the creatures they wanted to include in the Bestiary and reference images from the show. The outline also included bullet points detailing each creature’s important traits. From there I was given creative freedom to interpret the Bestiary as I had done with the pitch illustration (with the caveat that Teen Wolf’s creator, Jeff Davis, would have final approval). I started into this novel not having watched Teen Wolf. Don't gasp at me! I didn't realize that I was missing it in my life! About halfway through On Fire, I put it down and watch the first few episodes of season one. AND THEN: I was hooked. So basically, it's all Nancy Holder's fault for my latest obsession.

He knows all about Scott being a werewolf and he tries to help. The only bad part about that is that Stiles’ dad is the sheriff in town, and one wrong word to his dad and Scott would be busted. And Derek would be really mad, which is probably an understatement. But Stiles would more or less be dead. Sad face, because you will find yourself falling in love with his witty sense of humor and his clumsiness. I mean, it’s really just adorable and Holder portrays him very well. One of the highlights of this book is its exploration of Lydia Martin's character. Throughout the series, Lydia has been portrayed as a popular and confident girl, but in On Fire, we see a more vulnerable side to her as she struggles to come to terms with her latent powers. Holder does an excellent job of portraying Lydia's fear and confusion, but also her strength and determination to overcome her struggles. Seeing Lydia's development in this book was undoubtedly one of the things that made it stand out. They aren’t the only ones in the woods, and their little trip starts looking less like a rescue mission and more like an elaborate trap — one that will force them to make the choice between killing and being killed. It's fantasy, set in the modern world (I think), about a girl who has a wolf spirit inside of her that could actually jump out of her body and have a separate physical form.
