About this deal

If you're looking for more Tears of the Kingdom products, Nintendo will also be offering a collector's edition, amiibo, themed Switch OLED, a Pro controller and a carry case. A wireless controller with the form factor of a traditional controller, comfortable and great for gaming for long periods of time in TV mode and tabletop mode. Not_Soos on the switch pad fit (aka “slim”) I own a pair of the white/yellow ones and while it’s not a scheme it particularly found of I really rate them for comfort vs portability but no motion or wireless at all - ie have to be attached to switch at all times. There’s a gengar and pikachu/mimikyu special edition of these controllers too IIRC.

I just wish HORI would invest the R&D into making exactly the same product, but with rumble/gyro. Considering the quality of HORI products, I'd happily swallow a 20% increase on the RRP to have those functionalities. EDIT: also owned the switch pad pro and felt similarly to you just never felt comfortable and found the slim much better Dom_31 Actually….as someone who has had the 8bitdos, all forms of split “pro controller”-like joycon replacements, multiple joycons and pro controllers…….the Hori Split Pad Compact/Slim is the one I use for portable gaming. Sure, you miss out the amiibo functionality, gyro, Bluetooth and vibration, but for attached joycon style portable gaming, these are the one I use. I find it the most comfortable in my hands for long play sessions without giving up too much of everything else. I play in bed before sleep so I don’t need to be swinging my Switch around. That said, I wouldn’t recommend any joy-con replacements without gyro for TOTK. The only negatives for me with the Compact is that they have no rumble/gyro (same negatives as the larger Hori pads) ryu_san A shame these don't have motion controls, given Zelda TOTK Will use gyro aiming for arrows and whatnot.Includes motion controls, HD rumble, built-in amiibo™ functionality*, charging cable (USB-C to USB-A), and more. Saying that though, sacrificing rumble and gyro is OK as the Compact pad quality is really great. If you play handheld 50% of time or more then definitely a must-buy IMO My wired PowerA Mario controller was also my first controller that had a drifting issue and the controller itself felt too light in the hand. I'd rather spend some extra money on a Pro Controller than a PowerA controller. Embark on an epic adventure across the land and skies of Hyrule with the Nintendo Switch™ Pro Controller - The Legend of Zelda™: Tears of the Kingdom Edition. Not_Soos that'd be the Split Pad Fit/Comfort. I've been using one for my Switch for 6 months and haven't taken it off. Feels really great and definitely recommended if you can take not having gyro/vibration.

I'm 99% sure I want to get that, but would you rate it and recommend? (assuming this is the one you have)USB Type-C connector: You can use the enclosed USB charging cable to pair the controller with the console or to charge it. You can also connect it directly to an AC adapter. I bought a Split Pad Pro just to combat Drift. It's good - does what I wanted - but is a bit more bulky and cumbersome than I'd like. The model on the right does look more like what I'm after. I wonder what it's called (just Joy-Cons?) Anyway, the Split Pad Compact case I have is the white tomtoc one. Really clean and slim design with a high-quality zipper. Definitely an option if you'd rather have a low-profile case. Those TotK ones are nice, but they're pouches. They have unnecessary bulk unless you plan on carrying a lot of your Switch stuff in them. Take your game sessions up a notch with the Nintendo Switch™ Pro Controller The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Edition.

Fancy a new Zelda-themed Pro Controller for your Nintendo Switch? No worries, PowerA has got you covered. CJD87 I don't think it's a question of R&D for Hori. They could add rumble and wireless to it, and I have no doubt they would, if Nintendo would let them. CJD87 Besides the comfort, one thing I like about the Split Pad Compact is that it maintains the design language of the Switch with Joy-Cons attached. It looks like something Nintendo themselves might have made if they had decided to make a bigger version of the Joy-Cons.In total for Switch, I own a standard Pro Controller; wireless Hori Sonic; Pac-Man Split Pad Pro; Power-A wireless Mario Bros. 3 and Twilight Princess; and Power-A wired Super Mario Bros., Kirby, and Metroid Dread. I also have Joy-Con in grey, OLED white, blue Skyward Sword edition, and two pairs of Animal Crossing ones I never use. One really impressive detail in this case is that it has a soft barrier resting against the top of the Switch console that keeps pressure off the Compact's shoulder buttons on either side. They really did think of everything.

The smaller models are called the ‘Split Pad Compact’ and actually already available today in White & Red variants. As always, unfortunately the controllers don't have the functionality that you'd come to expect from the joycon or pro-controllers. It's a shame, since I really like these designs.InJeffable - yeh that is a solid point actually. I travel for work, and rely on my Switch to get me through 1-2hr flights - and I never ever fear that the battery will collapse in that time. You're right that gyro/rumble features would likely be a drain on this... Olmectron Yes, the split pad compact is not perfect for Zelda without motion controls, unfortunately I end up swapping them for normal joycons when I need that or use the Switch Pro Controller. I can understand the appeal of gyro aiming for TotK and why you'd prefer a controller that can offer that.
