Before this excitement is over, James has a date with some killer eels. Some supernatural elements and sci-fi carry it through, just as much as Ian Fleming's original stories. The competition has three heats: swimming, running, and shooting. Lord Hellebore helps George cheat in various events, particularly the foot race, where he plans shortcuts for his son. James, noticing that George has an alternate route, follows him, using his speed to overtake him and win the race. George tries to trip James but fails. Ultimately, Andrew Carlton, another student is the winner of the tournament, which deeply disappoints Lord Hellebore. In the first book in Robert Muchamore's spectacular series, James is recruited into the ranks of CHERUB - a secret organisation which trains children as spies. An enjoyable story, but I had a hard time believing that this character would ever turn into James Bond. The artwork was interesting, and reminded me of Mignola's art in Hellboy, but the characters tended to be a bit too cliched. Silverfin is the first of 9 books in the Young Bond graphic novel series. Bond's parents are dead due to an accident during while exploring. Higson was educated at Sevenoaks School and at the University of East Anglia (where his brother has taught since 1986 and is now a professor of film studies) where he met Paul Whitehouse, David Cummings and Terry Edwards. Higson then became a plasterer before he turned to writing for Harry Enfield with Paul Whitehouse and performing comedy. He came to public attention as one of the main writers and performers of the BBC Two sketch show The Fast Show (1994-2000). He worked with Whitehouse on the radio comedy Down the Line and is to work with him again on a television project, designed to be a spoof of celebrity travel programmes.[1:] We give accountants the technology and tools they need to be more successful. For themselves. For their clients. The only real problem that I have with this graphic novel is that it is incredibly fast-paced. Bond makes a friend at school - all we know about him is that he is smart, nice, a bit pudgy and from India. What else about his schooling at Eton? There seem to be a lot of ... SilverFin is the first novel in the Young Bond series that depicts Ian Fleming's superspy James Bond as a teenager in the 1930s. It was written by Charlie Higson and released in the UK on March 3, 2005 by Puffin Books in conjunction with a large marketing campaign; a Canadian release of the same edition occurred in late March. The U.S. edition was released on April 27, 2005 by Miramax Books. A hellebore is a poisonous plant often thought to resemble a rose, making a suitable name for the handsome but evil Lord Hellebore.So... since the novel kept me on the couch to the end, (And the end was surprisingly good) I'll have to give it four stars, since I don't give fives. Although , it was extremely hard to believe they would have had modern, science facilities in Adolf Hitler's time so I'd have to mark it down to three stars. Actually, since the first half of the book was utterly boring, I would have to slice off a star again. So my final and last score for this novel is a two out of five, yes two stars. It's James Bond's first day at Eton, and he's already met his first enemy. This is the start of an adventure that will take him from the school playing fields to the remote shores of Loch Silverfin and a terrifying discovery that threatens to unleash a new breed of warfare. Pan’s Labyrinth was amazing. Special effects and fantasy are used for more than just pretty pictures. A graphic novel adaptation of SilverFin written by Charlie Higson and illustrated by artist Kev Walker was released by Puffin Books in the UK on 2 October 2008 [2] and by Disney Hyperion in the U.S. on 18 May 2010.
