About this deal

Silo 17. Jimmy is pulled out of class by his mother. The bangs are getting louder. They try to flee but Jimmy and his mother are separated. Jimmy falls off the stairwell. Donald wakes up Charlotte. They send out a camera drone. Donald is sure he saw green grass and blue skies. Bernard is elevated to mayor and eventually replaces Juliette with his own choice for sheriff, Peter Billings. He also trains a man named Lukas to become his successor, and teaches him the secrets of IT: the IT department is the true power in the Silo, and records of knowledge from the old world have not been lost, but confiscated and sealed in a hidden chamber. However, Peter's honesty and pursuit of justice makes him difficult for Bernard to control, and Lukas has no interest in perpetuating Bernard's agenda. Bernard finally finds a pretext to condemn Juliette to a cleaning, but one of Juliette's friends in Mechanical, Walker, secretly arranges for her protective suit to be made out of quality materials, unlike all previous protective suits which were secretly designed to fail and constructed of intentionally defective materials. When she exits the Silo, Juliette realizes that her suit's visor contains a high-resolution display, and is deceiving her. Instead of cleaning the sensor, she becomes the first cleaner to walk out of the sensor's range of sight. The story of Wool takes place on a post-apocalyptic Earth. [9] Humanity clings to survival in the Silo, a self-sustaining subterranean city with 144 floors. No records of the time before the Silo remain. All residents of the Silo are taught that the outside world is toxic and deadly, and the Silo's cardinal rule is that anyone who expresses a desire to go outside must be sent there to clean the external sensors with a wool cloth. Those sent outdoors invariably clean the sensors as instructed, but die within minutes, reaffirming to the Silo residents that the outside is uninhabitable.

Wool: The Graphic Novel (2014), with Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, illustrated by Jimmy Broxton, ISBN 1-47784-912-2 Juliette spends her first couple of days trying to figure out what the hell is happening. It doesn’t help that Marnes supposedly kills himself in his room, so she is assigned a new deputy. Billings is one of Bernard’s people, so it’s becoming more and more suspicious.Dust is the third and final arc of the series, and is contained in a single book of the same name. It concludes the stories begun in Wool and Shift. Wool's hero was Juliette, a freedom-fighting mechanic born a hundred storeys underground, and the strands of Shift's split narrative take place earlier, explaining how her world came to be. We meet a 23rd-century courier whose graffiti-spattered "silo" is simmering with civil war; a Georgia congressman in the near future; an abandoned schoolboy whose story ends where Juliette's begins; and Troy, who wakes up in 2110 without remembering who he is.

Donald realises that Victor figured out what’s going on in silo 18. Some people there must remember. They need to find those people and wipe everyone’s memories. In 2007, the Center for Automation in Nanobiotech (CAN) outlined the hardware and software platform that would one day allow robots smaller than human cells to make medical diagnoses, conduct repairs, and even self-propagate. In the same year, the CBS network re-aired a program about the effects of propranolol on sufferers of extreme trauma. A simple pill, it had been discovered, could wipe out the memory of any traumatic event. At almost the same moment in humanity’s broad history, mankind had discovered the means for bringing about its utter downfall. And the ability to forget it ever happened. This is the sequel to the New York Times bestselling WOOL series. Now they need a new Sheriff. Mayor Jahns and Deputy Marnes head down to see Juliette, a Mechanic who has potential. They talk to her dad briefly first on their way. They meet with Jules and she says she’ll take the job but she needs a power holiday in the silo first so she can get the generators running properly. Senator Thurman asks Donald Keene to design a silo underground. It’s related to CAD-FAC, the Containment and Disposal Facility which will store nuclear waste. No one will allow this facility to be build without a safety net. The silo is that net.

The series started in 2011 with the short story "Wool", which was later published together with four sequel novellas as a novel with the same name. Along with Wool, the series consists of Shift, Dust, three short stories, and Wool: The Graphic Novel. Silo 1 assumes Jimmy is dead but that’s not the case. The water is poisoned and Jahns is killed, so now they need a new mayor. Bernard steps up, of course. Silo is an underground city, and Wool follows the story of a character named Holston. In Wool, Holston is fixated on the death of his wife, and his whole world is turned upside down. The rest of the stories in the volume Wool centre around Holston. Machine Learning: New and Collected Stories (2017), collection of 16 short stories and 5 novelettes/novellas:

In 2012, Howey signed a deal with Simon & Schuster to distribute Wool to book retailers across the US and Canada. The deal allowed Howey to continue to sell the book online exclusively. He notably turned down seven figure offers in favor of a mid-six figure sum, in return for maintaining e-book rights. [12] Brilliantly written...Howey creates a starkly believable and terrifying apocalypse. More and more layers of the dystopian world are unveiled, enticingly paving the way for the sequel Dust...
