About this deal

And Aladdin and the Magic Lamp, where Aladdin becomes a djinn himself and lends a hand to Shakespeare and Mozart. Flue – A duct or pipe used for ventilation or chimney purposes, often used in the context of heating or cooling systems. Muumuu – A loose, flowy dress often worn by women in Hawaii, often made from lightweight cotton or other breathable fabrics. I don’t recall anything about Rhyme Stew, as I probably only read it a couple of times, decades ago, so it’s like re-reading it for the first time. I probably loved it as an 8 year old, but nearly 30 years later, not so much. Revolting Rhymes is definitely much better. Hullabaloo – A loud and chaotic noise or commotion, often used in the context of protests or demonstrations.

Rhyme Stew : Dahl, Roald, Blake, Quentin, Blake, Quentin

Peekaboo – A game played with infants in which someone hides and then suddenly appears while saying “peekaboo,” often used to promote social development in infants. Blue – A color that is often associated with the sky or water, as well as emotions such as sadness or melancholy. The occasional slight bawdiness, which I suppose I'm not inclined to enjoy, plus the troubling elements that wouldn't fly today (casual use of sexual assault and racial stereotypes as sources of humor). I read this as part of my "reading all of Roald Dahl's children's books this year" goal, and after reading it I presume parts of this book aren't meant for children. Canoe – A narrow, lightweight boat designed for use on rivers or lakes, often used for recreation or fishing.

This book is full of hilarious rhymes. Roald Dahl has taken some well known fairy tales and made them rhyme as well as changing the punchline.

RhymeZone: stew rhymes

Su – A Chinese term meaning “to search” or “to investigate,” often used in the context of legal or criminal proceedings. A collection of irreverant rhymes featuring characters from fairy tales, fables and nursery rhymes - as you've never seen them before! From the tortoise and the hare and Hansel and Gretel to Ali Baba and Aladdin, these traditional stories will never seem the same again once you have had a taste of Roald Dahl's hilarious verse and Quentin Blake's suitably lively illustrations.

Mu – A Greek letter often used in mathematical or scientific notation to represent various quantities or variables. Interview – A meeting or conversation between two or more people, often used in the context of job interviews or journalism. Hansel and Gretel, whilst wonderfully written, is a very classic adaptation of the story without the Dahlesque twists that made the above poems so fab. The Price of Debauchery was fun (and quite apt!) but a bit short. The other poems were amusing but weren’t quite as striking. Pooh – A name for the character Winnie-the-Pooh, often used in the context of children’s literature or entertainment.
