About this deal

My Thoughts: This book has everything - domestic violence, runaways, murder, suicide, and kidnappings. Based in a small town in Britain, and told from multiple points of view, it’s definitely murder to start, but the readers piece it together before the others do. At that point, it all begins to unravel and snowball into so much more. The story focuses on DI McGregor more than Rina, but the real focus is on a sister’s love for her younger brother and everything she’ll do to protect him. Her killer, Christopher Hampton, escaped justice for 30 years, but was eventually traced thanks to a DNA breakthrough. If you love Agatha Christie, Jeanne M. Dams, The Thursday Murder Club, Glenda Young, Stella Cameron, Frances Evesham or Ann Cleeves, prepare to be hooked by this enchanting character-driven mystery! Owen Pellow, of Burnham-on-Sea, was with his partner, Lisa-Marie Thornton on the morning of November 23, 2017. It was another three weeks, after Tabak had returned from Holland, that police finally arrested him.

After an extensive missing person appeal and search, her body was found on Christmas Day 2010 in Failand in North Somerset. Good, solid whodunits, without gruesome details or gratuitous violence, Murder on Sea may be just your cup of tea’— Bec Stafford Tavener was given a life term and told he would serve a minimum of 16 years and eight months behind bars before he will be considered for release at Bristol Crown Court. Rina’s far more active and involved than Marple was, and for all her storming into the police station at the beginning of this book, I see Rina as kinder than the Victorian-minded Marple. Noreen O'Connor was acting as the nurse, housekeeper, secretary and companion for Marie Tarks and Frank Tiarks.

It was 13 years later a workman found her remains in woodland near Thornbury near the M5 on October 5, 2009. The trial heard how Lagwinowicz and Dmytryszyn took Ms Wells-Burr's body and drove it in her red Ford Focus to a secluded lane at Ashill. She later returned home alone and invited Mr Baker to their house. Their children were staying with his parents.

She put all that behind her when she moved to the sleepy town of Frantham-on-Sea. Here on the Dorset coast, she runs her own pin-neat guest house and life is blissfully quiet. When the author tells the reader whodunnit early on in a story, the tension in a mystery story is more from watching all the other characters get close to the answers, and possibly also into danger. Which is the situation here, when Jane Adams starts the story with a series of burglaries, followed by murders and revelations of spousal and child abuse. Her first main character is a police officer, DI “Mac” McGregor, new to the Frantham-on-Sea force, and to the neighbourhood, with its families, nosy neighbours, and well-known criminals.

Despite police receiving 1,700 calls from the public, taking 1,600 statements and making more than 10 arrests, no-one has ever been charged with her murder. In this Pearl mystery it is Christmas time so plenty of activity going on with the church events and work outings to Pearls restaurant called The Whitstable Pearl so when people start receiving poison pen christmas cards Pearl decides she has to say no to solving the mystery under her Nolan’s Detective Agency as she just has so much to do. The forensic evidence the six foot Dutchman had been so curious about did indeed implicate him, with the traces of DNA left when he carried her, her DNA in his car – the police had their man. England, murder, murder-investigation, senior-sleuths, law-enforcement, abusive-spouse, abuse, bullies, PTSD***In that violence a young life was lost. It was a life needlessly lost and needlessly and brutally taken. We are then introduced to a whole delightful cast of warm loveable characters, there is Rina Martin, the retired actress who played a TV detective and Tim the magician/mentalist depending on his audience. There are the two young boys, George and Paul who have never really fitted in at school and in trying to change that suffer the drastic consequences.
