The AIR team has released standalone software versions of the Hybrid, Mini Grand, and Velvet plugins. These apps will install on your computer when you run the plugin installers from the MPK mini Software Manager. These standalone programs are great to play with if you're not looking to use a DAW and just want to plug in the MPK and make some noise! Once the installation is complete, exit the setup wizard and launch the MPK Mini Play Editor from your Apps section on Windows 10 or your Applications folder on your MAC finder.
Yes! The Firmware will need to be updated before you begin using your controller. Please follow the link below for detailed instructions on updating the firmware. I don't think there is any competition for this keyboard currently (that also fits my desk). This keyboard is a great value for the price in my opinion. Sure there are cheaper keyboards with the same amount of keys. There are even cheaper keyboards with more additional options such as more faders, rotary controls or more transport controls for example. However I was quite suprised about the build quality and overal quality of this keyboard. The key bed might be mini keys, nevertheless they do feel very nice for a relative small and compact keyboard.

For Windows users, make sure you have extracted the application from the zipped folder before running it. Files and applications that are removed or run from a zipped folder without unzipping it, can be damaged and may not run properly.The sample or kit will populate the pads and can be triggered from the MPK's pads. The MPK's hardware Preset 1 is already mapped to Pad Bank A in MPC Beats. Just press and hold down the Prog Select Button and press Pad 1.
The MPC Beats installer is located in the i nMusic Software Center and does not require an authorization code to use. Simply install the software and start making music! Once you have made your changes with the editor, the assignments will need to be sent to the MPK Mini Play to be stored as one of your Favorites. Restart the updater and try to connect the MPK mini Plus again. We recommend connecting the USB cable to your computer first, and then connecting the other end to your MPK mini Plus while holding the SHIFT and PROG SELECT buttons. Be sure to continue holding these buttons until the MPK mini Plus powers on and you see the firmware version on the display. The MPK Mini Plus is a class compliant device, which means it can be connected to any computer without the need for additional drivers.
