About this deal

The light weght invites the lazy to handle the thing with one hand only - which works, but in that case the height rods are slipping out of the set position. With two handed handling it does not happen.

Meze 99 Noir Headphones Review - Reviewed Massdrop x Meze 99 Noir Headphones Review - Reviewed

I believe that the 99 Classics are the best made pair of headphones in this price range. No sight of plastic, beautiful wooden cups, metal headband with an elastic band for improved comfort, detachable cables in both ear cups. There is really nothing to be afraid of in terms of durability. Also, Meze has a fantastic customer service, so even if you’d murder a part of your 99 Classics, these guys will easily deliver spare parts for you to fix your headphones yourself.

Let me first start by thanking Andy for this opportunity to spend some quality time with the Meze Liric. It has been an absolute pleasure.

Meze Audio 99 NEO - Richer Sounds

The 361 is like 371, but with less bass emphasis. The 371 has better soundstage than the 361. Since you are choosing between 770 and neo, i think you would like the 371 over the 361. So my ranking would be: 99 classic>371>770=361>neo I’ve had these headphones for well over a year and they may have played music for over 300 or 400 hours now. I tested them with various sources throughout time; for the purpose of this review, I used an Aune M1s, a Topping DX7 with its own amplifier or in conjunction with a Head ‘n’ Hifi Objective2 amplifier and a Little Dot MKIII SE. Meze 99 Classics The ear cushions are great and doesn't press hard on the ear. And the whole thing is light on the head as well. As such, the LCD3 sounds voluminous as a result, with better bass depth and feel. Mids do sound a bit too far forward comparatively, but the detail wrought from within is right up there with the best I have heard or prefer might be the better term. Getting past my lust for the LCD3, the LIRIC does compete well with the overall qualities with a very solid fully functional sound that does not offend. The LIRIC can hold its own here, but to me is not equal. Joe Walsh’s sublime guitar work on the live version of Hotel California simply melts me through the LCD3. I respect it through the LIRIC. There is the difference.Look and Feel - This is an understated, but premium, headphone. Aesthetics are not as striking as the Empyrean, bringing a bit of a "boxy" vibe, but they maintain attractiveness for the form factor, with the bronze trim adding an elegant touch. Build quality is robust, with the headphone emanating quality while in the hand.

Meze 99 Classics Review - Headfonics Audio Reviews

I consider the Meze 99 Classics among the best headphones you can buy– hence the high rating. Their peculiar design and sound signature make them stand out from the crowd and affords them a niche where they reign supreme. Self-adjusting height adjustment mechanism (somewhat comparable to that of my AKG K701). Likes to pull my hair out, though (at least as badly as my Koss Porta Pro, probably even worse). Living in Glasgow, Scotland but born and raised near Milan, Italy, I got the passion for music listening as a legacy from my father and my grandfather. Headphones– Hifiman Sundara, Sony WM1000XM3, Meze 99 Neo, Meze Empyrean, Audeze LCD3, MrSpeakers AEON2, Sendy Aiva

One of the reasons headphones and earphones in India are more expensive than overseas is because of the Goods & Services Tax in India. The Liric’s do have a more expansive sound with slightly better bass depth and layering. I contribute this to the new Phase-X system. The transients aren’t as snappy as they are on the Stellia’s, but the Liric’s do very well at displaying tactual sensations.
