About this deal

While Panasonic was the first company to make a compact system camera with the G1 in 2008, in the intervening years it’s not really settled on any specific kind of design.

Panasonic's core customer for this camera is the casual user seeking a carry-everywhere-cam for documenting friends or family. This user is someone who prefers a selfie-screen to an EVF and favors ease-of-use and compactness. Since this 'lifestyle' camera buyer is likely to use the camera for a range of different types of photography, we're going to see how it performs in a range of situations. The rivals Dials and buttons are kept to a minimum for this camera. On the right hand side of the top plate there’s a mode dial for switching between the various exposure modes which the camera offers. Despite the fact that this camera is aimed at beginners, it’s possible to shoot in manual and semi-automatic modes. You’ll also find options such as automatic, scene, panorama and digital filters. As long as the grip does not protrude out more than the thinnest lens, it is OK. The last image I commented on, was shot with the original Pentax KP film camera. the modern digital Pebtax KP accirding Mattias Burling mirrorless cameras a run for their money. Earlier yesterday I was looking at the specs of another great value Pentax camera from 2013, the Pentax K50 (Editor's choice Enthusiast DSLR). I appreciate Pentax cameras, I have used the oriPentax Pentax MX (film) SLR, a very strong Olympus OM contenter. And here are some portrait shots. As you can see, neither the Flash On setting or the Red-Eye Reduction option caused any amount of red-eye.

General-purpose metering does a good job of producing accurate exposures, and there’s barely any incidence of needing to dial in exposure compensation when you wouldn’t expect it. Automatic white balance copes well with artificial lighting to produce pleasingly accurate images, sometimes going a little far towards warmer tones (but not disappointingly so).

And with the G100 perhaps to become Panasonic's smallest model (rather than progressing this line), I'll maybe be shopping sooner rather than later?

Users can utilise the 4K PHOTO technology to capture fleeting photo opportunities at 30 fps by extracting the best frame out of a 4K burst file to save as a photo. In 4K PHOTO, three modes can be chosen from depending on the situation; 4K Burst, 4K Burst (Start/Stop) and 4K Pre-burst. All of these functions in 4K PHOTO let the user save pictures in 8-megapixel equivalent high resolution, which is good enough for printing in A3 size, and help to avoid missing those spur-of-the-moment shots. The Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800 is the smallest CSC in Panasonic’s line-up, and indeed it’s one of the smallest currently available on the market. You could be forgiven for thinking, especially with the small pancake kit lens attached, that it’s a premium compact camera. When the ambient temperature is high or continuous recording is performed, the camera may stop the recording to protect itself. Wait until the camera cools down. The 3.0-inch 1040K-dot static type touch control monitor boasts a 180-degree tiltable structure. When the monitor is flipped up, the camera automatically activates Self Shot mode. In conventional selfie pictures, users have to stretch their arms to hold the camera, however, the hands-free selfie capability of the GX880 allows users to use their hands as they like, resulting in freer, more expressive posing. Face Shutter and Buddy Shutter functions can also be used to trigger the shutter release when a face is covered for a moment with a waving hand or when two faces come close together in a frame. There are numerous shooting modes, including intelligent Auto, creative effects, scene modes (portrait and children positions available on the dial), auto panoramic shooting, HDR, as well as P, A, S, and full manual controls

Image quality is very good, but somehow I liked the colors a bit better on the original. Anyway here's a recent example I just bought a GX850 and can only shoot video in manual focus because the noise of the autofocus on the other three focus options render the video useless without an external mic. Unless the one I bought has a defect?

The 12-32mm kit lens is a decent optic to get you started with - especially if you’re a beginner. It’s capable of producing some nice images. If you’re after the really shallow depth of field effect, you may want to consider purchasing a pancake prime lens for this camera - there’s plenty of prime lenses to choose from for Micro Four Thirds, but some of the larger lenses may leave the Panasonic Lumix DC-GX800 feeling a little unbalanced and unwieldy. Above: The Lumix Image app also makes it easy to copy images onto your smartphone over Wifi. You can copy images at the original resolution or in reduced versions. The Panasonic Lumix GX800, or GX850 as it’s known in North America, is an entry-level mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses. Announced in January 2017, it replaces the GF7 and is aimed at anyone upgrading from a phone or compact camera for better quality, control and flexibility. Like all of Panasonic’s mirrorless cameras to date, it’s based on the Micro Four Thirds system which means it works with any lens designed for that format, including a wealth of options from Panasonic and Olympus. Panasonic typically sells the GX800 / GX850 in a kit with a 12-32mm / 2.7x kit zoom that’s equivalent to 24-64mm in coverage, giving you slightly wider angle capabilities than most kit lenses. It does have the unique distinction of being the small m43rds 16 MP sensor camera with no AA filter. https://www.google.com/search?q=leica+m&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwip3cSn6vPTAhVBKiYKHYllDVQQ_AUIDCgDGX880 is really the perfect size - so my wish for '22 is that Panasonic makes the same size with 26mpix resolution, IBIS and the GX9 "sequence composition" (aka in-camera "action sequence").
