About this deal

After deciding that this would be the last, in the series, that I wanted to read, this book came along. I loved it. There was everything: villains, new characters, love, hatred, the ridiculous and the horrifying. But mostly, there were all the wonderful characters I have loved from the beginning, Harley, Ward, Finch at his best, Ryanne, and all the rest. All fighting for their world and magic and their coven. In one sense this is the last of the series, but the next book in the series seems to be about the next generation- so, of course, I’ll have to see what they are up to. Was suprised that the next series wasn't going to focus on Saskia and Jacob. When I saw the two year time-skip at the begginning of the last chapter I don't know why I immediately thought of them. However, what I really wasn't fond of was that Harley seemed to give up her emotional feelings when someone simply told her to- and then was overly violent at other times.

the characters were likable & realistic; I liked Wade, Santana, Tatyana, Astrid, Raffe, Alton, Dylan. It is an entertaining story and it does indeed remind me of Harry Potter. And Harley is 19 when we meet her, which is nice in that it makes me feel less like I’m reading a children’s book.

As the threat of witch hunters circles the Institute, a mysterious illness begins to affect the Institute’s monsters, and a long-disappeared frenemy reappears with intentions unknown. One thing is clear: they’re here to stir up even more trouble among the local monsters-in-residence, and it seems like it’s working on everyone. And so we end Finch's section of the Merlin family journey. It felt more like a whimper than a bang. Most of the reason for that, though, is going into spoiler territory, so be warned. The short version, is it seems like more effort was put into setting up Persie's story than ending Finch's. Maybe I wouldn't have had this feeling if it weren't for the final chapter in this book, but Bella Forrest put it there, so I'm judging the series on it.

I'm really intrigued to see where Harley's story leads to next. So, I must start book 2 right away, or later today since it's after midnight here. I loved the ups and downs, and the book kept my attention. I couldn't tell what was going to happen next! I loved Finch and thought that this was an amazing book to finish the series. This author is amazing!Bella Forrest’s original series, A Shade of Vampire, has over thirty books in it now. The series was named after the title of the first book in the series. The protagonist, Sofia Claremont, has just turned seventeen when she gets trapped in a nightmare. While in the dream, she meets a mysterious creature with pale skin. Sofia is then swept away to The Shade, an island that has been bewitched to prevent the sun from ever shining. The Shade is controlled by a coven of vampires that are the most powerful in the world. Sofia becomes a captive on the island and is soon taken to the dwelling of Derek Novak: a vampire prince who craves power and Sofia’s blood. Sofia finds his home a safe haven rather than a prison, and realizes it is by far the safest place on the island. To continue surviving, Sofia must swoon Derek and win his trust. If she succeeds, she will live to see tomorrow. If she fails, she could meet the same kismet as all the other girls who have been involved with the Novaks. Sofia and Derek’s story is followed throughout the first seven books in the A Shade of Vampire Series.

As Harley works to save the children and uncover whatever her aunt is up to, she is still trying to find answers to some questions about her past. For example, what pushed her father to murder her mother? What is the extent of her magical powers? Is there a chance that Wade Crowley will stop being so annoying? Harley Merlin and the Secret Coven is the first book in the Harley Merlin. The book follows Harley, a nineteen-year-old girl with special powers. Harley can feel other people’s emotions. Thanks to her skills, Harley lands her first job in a casino where she can tell the cheaters. While she should be happy about her power, Harley has no idea where her power comes from. Her parents are long gone, and her father left her nothing more than a cryptic note. After years of moving from one foster home to another, it is hard for this teenage girl to trace anything about her origin. The whole administrative system and hierarchy inside the coven seems haywire and it's obvious that the writer did not put a lot of thought into it. As I said, lazy writing. Most students are here to learn. But for Persie Merlin-Crowley, it's a matter of life or death. Persie has done it - she's officially a student at the prestigious Basani Institute. With her best friend Genie by her side, she's ready to learn the ski... Persie thinks she is going to learn to hunt and control the monsters she purges, but she and the whole institute learn ever so much more about both monsters and themselves. These books are supposed to be for young adults, but this old lady is enjoying them too. So I would recommend the who!d series to young adults and the young at heart.
