About this deal

Warhammer Community have already teased us with this roadmap, which promises oodles of Kill Team content over the coming months. We’re promised plenty more stuff for the new edition, including, no doubt, a ton more boxes like this one full of exciting new models and whatever else, as well as exciting individual rules for your factions like those for Orks and Death Korps of Krieg that we have in this launch box that will eventually bring all the factions into the new edition. At first, the DKoK sprue might seem a little intimidating. It’s quite big, and a lot of the components are very small. At a first glance, too, it might not be so obvious as to how some of the bits will go together – but trust the process, all will be well. The build guide for the DKoK figures is a good ‘un: I couldn’t find any errors in it, so everything should be numbered correctly. If you find something, however, please let us know in the comments – you might help someone else out! Squads of elite operatives battle for the fate of the Octarius Sector in the all-new, reimagined Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team. The Kill Team: Octarius launch box is the ultimate introduction, containing everything you need to run a thrilling campaign between the Veteran Guardsmen of the Death Korps of Krieg and the Ork Kommandos as an entire sector descends into all-out war. The rules for this kill team can be found in the Into the Dark book. Read our guide for this brave boarding crew here. Kroot Farstalker Kinband

Kill Team: Octarius (Book)

Unlike the kill teams in Into the Dark, both kill teams in this expansion aren’t entirely designed for Gallowdark games, and the Kasrkin kill team is the first appearance of a brand new unit for the 9th edition 40k Astra Militarum codex. The Hierotek kill team is really unique and is centered around powerful leaders – just beware that some of the Leader options for the kill team aren’t available in this box. Kill Team: Chalnath (out of production) Move the operative as though it can FLY and has an unlimited Movement characteristic. The operative cannot move over any other terrain features during this move. There’s no two ways about it – the Octarius Sector is in a bad way right now, with Ork Waaagh!s running rampant and Tyranid Hive Fleets consuming entire worlds on a daily basis. This war-torn region of space is where we find ourselves for the next major story event in the 41st Millennium, as well as the setting for the brand new edition of Kill Team.I did have a few problems with building some of the terrain pieces, though. A lot of the buildings are held up on support pillars that need to be attached individually (this applies to all four of the larger Ork structures, the oil rig, and the two smaller bi-pod platforms). None of these pieces of terrain, however, have obvious moulds or indentations to guide where you are supposed to attach these supports. DECOY [1EP]For each operative in your kill team that is equipped with a decoy, you can set up one additional Concealed Deployment marker when you set up your forces. This marker is blank, and is removed after all other non-decoy markers have been replaced with operatives. I was pretty excited about the new Kill Team terrain, so much so that I tore through it as soon I got my hands on it! I knew the secret to finishing would be speed: If a project takes too long, I get distracted by life and lose enthusiasm. All in all, this project took 3-4 days:

Octarius Sector is Hell and It’s All Inquisitor Kryptman The Octarius Sector is Hell and It’s All Inquisitor Kryptman

In fact, so much has changed that we’re dedicating a bumper crop of articles to every aspect of the new Kill Team over the coming weeks. Here are just a few of the things you can look forward to in the latest edition. For the accessories, we have a cardboard gaming board with a desert junkyard theme, a set of combat gauges and dice, a mission book, a set of 54 tactic cards, tokens, and of course the new core book. One thing to note: The Octarius box only contains the rules for the included models (Veteran Guardsmen and Ork Kommandos). To get the datasheets and rules for the other factions you need to get the new Kill Team Compendium book. The modelsThe rules for this kill team can be found in the Ashes of Faith book or in the Kill Team Annual 2023. You can read our guide for these mutated monstrosities here. Hearthkyn Salvager The worst culprit, though, is the oil rig. Its platform, the rig itself, and its pillar can take some pushing and pulling to get to line up properly. Even once I had it done as according to the guide, and after some fiddling, the support column still wasn’t quite touching the ground. At the end of each Turning Point, you score 1VP if you control the Oil Pump Vantage Point objective marker. I painted the light glow for the lamps with an airbrush of Averland Sunset, but you can get a similar effect by drybrushing Averland Sunset as well. And because you can only take one or two types of Fire Team in your army, it’s not like you can even spice things up by chopping and changing models for extra abilities. No, if the figures in your Fire Team of choice have no Abilities or Unique Actions, that’s it.
