About this deal

By beginning with Invincible #1, you get a much more holistic view than if you start with later issues. You see Mark grow as a character, with him beginning as a newbie hero and slowly growing into an established hero as the series progresses. Jumping into the comic later means that you miss that growth and later events don’t have the same impact. By now everyone in the world knows Invincible. But what about the rest of the INVINCIBLE UNIVERSE's heroes and villains? In 2007, Brit was launched as an ongoing full-color series written by Bruce Brown, with artwork by Cliff Rathburn. The series was overseen and edited by Robert Kirkman. In late 2007, a two issue mini-series starring Atom Eve was released. The comic tells the story of a teenage boy named Mark Grayson. It is a similar coming of age type of story to that of Spider-man. He is half Korean and half Viltrumite on his father’s side, which causes him to inherit his fathers superpowers. The series follows him balancing school and his new powers with help from his Father, Omni Man. Omni Man is kind of similar to Superman he can fly, has super strength and he’s indestructible. One thing I noticed throughout reading this book is it pokes fun at Marvel/DC and some characters almost feel like Walmart versions of those franchises. In this series there are people known as Guardians of the Globe who are similar to the Avengers/Justice League. There’s even a character named Red Rush who looks like the Flash. And Darknight who reminded me of Batman. Aside from the superhero parodies I thought it was a really fun read. If you continue on in the series you’ll find it’s really unique and has it’s own plot line to tell despite all the parodies. Especially if you read until the twist ending. It was engaging and I love a good superhero/coming of age style story. It’s probably why I like Spider-man and Superman: Son of Kal-El so much. One Fan's Opinion: Issue #14". Comic Book Resources. November 10, 2005. Archived from the original on November 19, 2012 . Retrieved September 2, 2013. David Hiles: A weapons engineer for a military-sanctioned research firm. His son committed suicide which also resulted in him getting divorced from his wife and also shortly thereafter lost his job. David joined the staff of "Reginald Vel Johnson High School", where one of his students was Mark Grayson, the teenage superhero called Invincible. Angstrom Levy: A genius with the ability to leap across dimensions and is one of Invicible's archenemies. After being disfigured by one of his inventions, he blames Invincible and swears revenge. Throughout Invincible’s run, Image Comics published a range of spin-off comics. These feature many of the comic’s large cast of characters and expand the world that’s established in the main series.Invincible has many of the standard superhero comic book elements. He's a teenager who has to balance school, a social life, and dating with being a superhero. He's not great at it. Overall the comic seem to be a brutal homage to DC comics as the original Guardians of the Globe could easily be the Justice League.
