This book was lots of fun, I read it with my niece today who's almost 4 and hilarity ensued. It resulted in her parading around the room showing me how she would walk if she had to get a new butt like the ones the little boy thought of in the book. The illustrations were great and really got her imagination going, she spent ages after reading it talking about all the different styles of new butts she could think up and how funny they would be. What is being defined as the degree to which something is related or useful to what is happening or being talked about? This children's book was so crazy. You know how young kids like butt or poot stories. This book is not exactly manner related, but it is not offensive & basically child appropriate if you allow your child to have a good laugh when they toot or hear the word butt. I found some of the humour in this forced at times, but I can see it would appeal to young children.In a letter to Price, the superintendent reportedly called the book “inappropriate”, pointing to references to flatulence and noting that it “described butts in various colors, shapes and sizes (example: fireproof, bullet proof, bomb proof)”. I'm not really a fan of the illustration style, however, particularly the way the boy was drawn. I did like the use of color, though. I will also put here that this book came to my attention when I read a review on my Goodreads feed (thanks Gregg) which stated that Toby Price, a Mississippi vice-principal had been fired because he read this book out to a bunch of elementary school kids (lower primary). It seems the school administrators are not amused by bum and fart references.

The ending, I was wondering how it would go, butt I definitely hadn’t seen that one coming. It is a good ending! He has three children to support, he said, two with severe autism, adding: “I’m tired. I’m stressed. I’m overwhelmed. I need to work.” How rude!” That’s the kind of response Dawn McMillan’s I New A New Butt is bound to get from some moms and dads. McMillan’s popular story was first published in New Zealand under the more polite title “I Need a New Bum.” This quirky little picture book may not be a guide to manners, but it’s a far cry from crude. Like it or not, you’ll be hard pressed to keep from smiling! For full transparency, I didn't read this book. Instead, I watched a video where it was read aloud for a kid based target audience. To be completely honest, it made me smile and I watched the video several times.The art was also fun. The illustrator really can draw butts! And it made everything written become even more funny. Neither Martin nor members of the school board immediately responded to Guardian requests for comment. And then follows the quest on what new butt to choose. There are all sorts of butts, from coloured ones to flair (taking the saying to a new and literal level). I had so much fun seeing him think of all the butts he could have, and BOY there are many. I would definitely not mind having a choice of butts. Would be fun! I laughed a lot during this part. So so much. I think what surprised me the most was the vocabulary in this. I have taught some kids in high school who wouldn't necessarily know some of those words. But then, hose unfortunate kids never had their grannies read to them (or their moms, dads or other interested family members). If what the research suggests is true, that one is able to learn the most up until the age of 5, then please read books with good vocab! Which of the following allows different operating systems to coexist on the same physical computer?

It can be difficult getting kids interested in books and reading. Any book that can capture a kid's interest and have them wanting to read it again, and then read another book is a good book - a great book. Price said school officials told him they feared complaints from parents and Martin said he had been “unprofessional”. It's the kind of book which you just have to share with others, regardless of their age it will inevitably bring pleasure and brighten up their day. The illustrations are brilliant and greatly add to the story, bringing even more comic value to the story too! All in all, this was a lot of fun and a fantastic short enjoyable read. All in all, this book is just fantastic. Let’s stop banning books and just have fun again. Let kids read and be read aloud to whatever they want. If they want butts, then go for it! Recommended! This is the kind of book that can engage kids into reading books. The illustrations are colourful, relevant to the text, and funny. The story itself is the right level of sillyness and playfulness that you want in a kids book. Not surprisingly it abounds in bum and fart jokes, and even has some bum puns. Admittedly, the text may not earn the author a spot in Poet's Corner, but then again, this is not supposed to be high poetry.

I wasn't really sure how the book would be able to pull off being funny without being gross, but it was able to do so. I actually liked the different types of butts he considered, especially the arty-farty butt. I found myself laughing a few times and my infant son seemed to enjoy it too as he laughed a couple of times, although I'm not sure if he was laughing at the drawings or at the verses. A definate 5 stars for this one, it was so fun to watch my niece laughing and enjoying herself and watch how it got her imagination working overtime. I keep a watch on what’s happening around me and I listen to what people say. Sometimes a joke can give me an idea. But most of my stories come from my own experience…the happy times, the sad times, and the special people I’ve known. The whole idea was as hilarious as it was preposterous, so I confess I did come into this already already biased towards the writer and artist, and they did not let me down, either one of them. Of course, I'm way to old for this kind of a book, but that didn't prevent me from maximizing my enjoyment and having some fun with it. I mean how can you not like the idea? I could hardly believe it was written by a woman, but then why the hell not? She obviously knows on which side her bread is butt-ered, and a woman can be a gluteus for punishment just like a man.... I was honestly quite impressed by her creativity, and I don't think she's bottomed-out yet, so I'd love to read something by her which is written with a more mature (but equally playful) aspect, to which she will no doubt respond tush-hey! I'm sure that Dawn McMillan isn't one to sit-upon her laurels.... This was ADORABLE. :D It's a short book filled with imaginative butts...what could be better? The Illustrations by Ross Kinnaird really make the book special, since they're so incredibly colorful. I took more time on this book than one normally would, because I was staring at all of the colorful illustrations that I'm sure children would adore. The rhyming scheme within this book also added to the fun of reading it. I received a copy of I Need a New Butt! from the publisher via netgalley in return for an honest review.
