About this deal

Problems of this type can also be caused if the PVR is receiving signals from more than one transmitter. This is becoming more common as the transmitter power is increased following digital switchover. An indication that signals are being received from more than one transmitter is that the EPG has entries in the 800 series channel locations. If this is the case the solution is to manually tune to the correct frequencies for your local transmitter.

If you've got a Marcus easy-access savings account or cash ISA, you can easily boost your interest rate to 4.75% – here's how. The 9300T has twin tuners and a clever hard disk storage system that enables you to watch one programme, either live or pre-recorded, whilst recording another, or even to watch two different programmes at the same time with the picture in picture function. However, if you do a lot of recording of single programmes, or of whole series’, you’ll appreciate the main benefit of the PVR-9300T over the PVR-9150T in the increased storage available. The 320Gb hard disk is capable of storing up to 200 hours of television, so you could even record every single episode of The Wire if you wish. The Humax PVR9300T features a twin Freeview tuner, enabling you to watch one Freeview channel, whilst recording another onto its built-in hard disk or even record two different channels simultaneously, whilst watching a previous recording!Other channels like Dave and Sky News come and go all the time. One week I have them, the next week I don't. If this utility can be run from a box where the loader application file won't load the this may be the case I'm reasonably computer savvy, just wanting to preempt any problems before I hit them, so any advice is welcome. The 9300T uses a proprietary disk format, it is not the same as ext3 (or etc3 as you seemed to have renamed it). The boot sector will not be recognised by Windows because the Humax processor is big endian and all data written to the disk is in this format. So would I expect my drive, when formatted by my laptop and then reinstalled, to be formatted again in the Humax?

Also, do I simply remove, reformat and replace the drive, power up, reset to factory settings and go from there or do I somehow need to restore some software? E.g. where is the Loader stored? If on the disk, how do I restore it?Can the system format a new unpartitioned drive or do I need to run a linux Live CD and partition and format the drive first? It involves a bit of gear and time of course but once you have saved what you want then you can reformat the HDD and see if that resolves the problem. This could present a minor problem for those who want to integrate the PVR into an existing Freeview set-up, but for those looking to "go digital" for the first time, it is less of an issue. An idea maybe is that since you can replay them is to get a HDMI splitter (example only) and connect the PVR to a TV and a PC via the splitter and then use a video capture card in the PC to copy and save the videos to maybe an external HDD connected to the PC.

So a better internal format utility and some built in maintenance routines would go a long way towards getting maximum value out of HDDs If you're a regular Superdrug shopper, you can now earn more freebies and discounts under its Health & Beautycard loyalty scheme, as the retailer has launched new 'VIP Rewards' as part of it. So that's it. A neat, classy set-top box that works well, is sensibly priced and would be a real pleasure to live with. Sounds like a deal to us...Ps I am aware of the warninsg about the open frame switching power supply so will be very careful when working on this box.

Apart from a change of colour, the remote isn’t radically different to the PVR-9200T’s zapper, which is a very good thing – the basic button layout gives it a rare simplicity, and it helpfully hides the lesser-used keys under a sliding flap at the bottom.I assume the OS on these boxes is some sort of Linux distro. Is the OS actually on the drive or held in NVram? The Humax PVR9300T is a the bigger brother to the popular 9150T, and whilst you get all the same benefits there are also some essential additions which make it a serious device for the power user. I will probably go for the AV drive you recommend as the smallest available WD Red is 1Tb and he will never use all that space.
