About this deal

What this means is the Mustang is very portable and has the perfect size for your room, garage, or living room.

The presets give you enough range to play any genre you need to play. Plus, you can store 36 additional user presets you can create yourself. The main cabinet is made out of plywood, which is much better than MDF. Grill-cloth is made out of the standard fabric Fender uses for all its Silverface amps. The classic chrome Fender-logo is proudly presented on the face. There is a Mustang logo on the top of the face, right where the logo on a Tweed amp would be. Fender are certainly well known for their guitars, but they also make some pretty fantastic amplifiers too.Popular guitar pedal effects include chorus, delay, reverb, overdrive, distortion, and fuzz. Downside & alternatives The ‘I’ in ‘Fender Mustang I’ means it is the smallest amp in the Mustang series (not counting the Mustang Mini). The I is a 20-watt combo amp with an 8-inch speaker. The Mustang II is a 40-watt amp with a 12-inch speaker. The line goes all the way up to V which is a 150watt head with 4×12 inch speaker cabinet. This review looks at the Mustang I but all the main features are similar across the Mustang series. The bright fender tone you would expect to hear is present, until you start altering the settings and dialling in some of the amp models that is! The extensibility of this amp also makes it great for getting started with digital recording. In fact, one user review alluded to the fact that this is more of a 'guitar system' than an amplifier. Disadvantages First of all, what does it look like? There’s no doubt that this is a Fender amp. It looks to be a combination of a classic Fender Tweed amp and a Fender Silverface amp. To give you an idea: The knobs look similar to the UFO-shaped knobs found on the Silverface amps. These knobs are sturdy and feel nice to turn. Not too light, not too heavy, just right.

The quality of this amp surprised me. I’ve heard quite a few budget amps before as my students often bring their amps into lessons for me to explain how to use them. Quite often the tone sounds cheap (eg: I have vivid memories of hearing the then-new Marshall MG series and the ridiculously horrible sounds it spat out). The quality of this amp was a pleasant surprise. The effects were actually very high quality and very surprising. Quite often budget amps have poor sounding effects that feel very digital. The effects with the Mustang were actually very usable. The amp looks great and unique. It obviously resembles some of Fender’s most classic amps, and this is a very creative choice of design. It looks a lot better than other practice amps in this category in my opinion, and it absolutely fits within Fender’s amp catalog. None of this matters if it doesn’t sound great, and unfortunately… that was our biggest gripe with the Fender Mustang.

This doesn’t mean that a more experienced player will have no value with this little amp. It can be a great practice tool to have at home while your big heavy tube amp sits at the rehearsal space. The existence of the port also tells us the Mustang I is designed as a practice and experimenting amp. It means you can get more out of it by using its full features. Not having extensive menus is an issue I like because it makes the whole experience simpler. However, the process of creating the presets on your own might be a complex task. The key to having the best use out of this amp is the Fender FUSE software. The software compatibility adds versatility and flexibility to the Mustang I V2 model, which cannot be achieved only by rotating the knobs. It offers and delivers a range of different needs. For beginners, getting a vast array of different options and features at an affordable price is something to look for. Sound

It’s far more than most beginners will ever need, so the amp is far more than a beginner’s amp. Right off the bat, it has so many more possibilities than other amps at the same price range with its 36 available tones you can load at any time. Adding versatility to the model, Fender Mustang I V2 comes with a USB port along with the Fender FUSE software for PC/Mac. This software makes the controls function a breeze, as you can edit and save your presets online without turning a knob. Saving a new preset means you have to delete the old one, but with FUSE software, you can save it online and use it again later. Also, you can access a great deal more effects and tones available online. Furthermore, there isn’t much problem with the mobility of the amp itself, as it comes with 3 feet long USB cable. AUX Input and Headphone Output If you don’t plan on using the Fender FUSE software or wouldn’t know how to do it, this amp is not a great choice. You won’t have many effects to play with and, in all honesty, you might not like the original presets and voices. The controls on the Mustang are knob-driven and on top of the amp. It has a single knob each for Gain, Volume, Treble, Bass, and Master. The Preset Select has a preset that you can dial through, and some effects are under master headings called Modulation Select and Delay/Reverb Select. The amp models light up individual LEDs for each model type. The control panel features a Treble knob to control the high frequencies and a bass knob to control the lows, but there is no Middle knob to control over the mid-range. It may seem a bit confusing at first. However, you will get used to it in no time.

So, while you can swap the different models on the go, you’d need to edit the presets with the Fender Fuse software to further add effects. http://support.fender.com/manuals/guitar_amplifiers/Mustang_I-IV_(V.2)_Advanced_Manual_Rev-A_English.pdf
