Overall Thoughts: First: This book is touted as having the "secret" to feeling better. While I didn't expect any new information, I certainly didn't expect to get hit in the face with the following items to give up: gluten, caffeine, dairy, alcohol, and sugar. Aren't those all key word diets right now? Plus she didn't really want to get into the science of why so instead she gave key quotes from other people in the field. Plus she gave you why she gave it up because that really is why you should too. Even though not every diet is for everyone, your gut is probably going to tell you to give up all these things.

Taking the book at face value it deserves 5 stars. It is quite lightweight and therefore not too daunting for someone starting out on a journey towards a nutritious and healthy way of eating. She doesn't preach about what you must or mustn't do. You are left with the facts to decide whether or not you are ready to move to this level. At the same time there is an acceptance that nobody is perfect and we all have lapses from time to time, and this is ok, as long as you are eating healthily most of the time.And the recipe’s picture showed a runny sauce that didn’t seem to cling to the spiralised celeriac – what kind of a carbonara is that?!
