About this deal

I've been excited about this since it was announced (as I've read almost everything else from this author, and I love dragons) so I was thrilled my ARC request was approved. and I was right to be excited! I love a good long fantasy epic and this delivered on all fronts: multiple POVs, interesting world building, engaging characters, a building plot, twists and turns... all resulting in a solid first book setting up for more. that's not to say a lot of things are left unresolved, but that while the Big Events in this book were tied up, there is definitely more to come, and I'm excited for it. A queernorm world with incredible worldbuilding and a great story to dive into. I loved the characters, their dynamics and how they evolved over the course of the book, including the growing romantic attraction between the two main characters, and of course, the dragons! Furthermore, the book has an incredibly interesting narration and uses a mix of first, second and third person, which is something I personally really love, especially in fantasy books and I found it was very well executed in this book. One of the things that really stood out to me was the queernorm world and the world building It was exceptional, but I have to admit that it did take a bit of effort to get into it. The first 20% of the book is pretty intense, with a lot of world-building and narration, but trust me when I say it's worth it. Once I got lost in the immersive writing style, I couldn't put the book down. Thief Arcady scrapes a living on the streets of Vatra. Desperate, Arcady steals a powerful artifact from the bones of the Plaguebringer, the most hated person in Lumet history. Only Arcady knows the artifact's magic holds the key to a new life among the nobles at court and a chance for revenge.

Dragonfall: A MAGICAL SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER! (The Dragon

Dragonfall is a submersive, atmospheric epic fantasy with high stakes, slow burn, and gorgeous writing. Come for the dragons, stay for the gay pining. Storytelling at its best. This was a great start to this dragon epic fantasy trilogy, it had a great concept and does what I was hoping for. I was invested in what was going on and loved the idea of dragons returning. It was so well written and did a great job in telling the story. I can't wait to read more in this trilogy and from the author. L. R. Lam wrote this so well and did a great job in creating a unique world. Dragons have never been so sexy. Lam’s triumphant return to fantasy strikes the perfect balance between romance, action, high stakes heists, and betrayal, in a richly imagined world that’s brimming with magic and heart. You can’t help but fall for this book.”—Kate Dylan, author of Mindwalker

Lam’s Dragonfall is a powerful all-new imagining of dragons and humans and the wild magic burning between them, set in a divided world as brilliantly original as it is convincing. With striking, beautiful prose and characters that will own your heart, this book—and those to follow in the trilogy—are must-reads.”—Julie E. Czerneda, author of the Night’s Edge series Dragons have never been so sexy. Lam's triumphant return to fantasy strikes the perfect balance between romance, action, high stakes heists, and betrayal, in a richly imagined world that's brimming with magic and heart. You can't help but fall for this book ― Kate Dylan, author of Mindwalker The characters in the book are so well written, and I mean really well written. We get to see what they're thinking and feeling, and I absolutely adored Arcady and Everen. However, the side characters are equally excellent, and I hope we get to see more of them as the series progresses. I especially appreciated the gender fluid main character and the fantastic conversations and discussions about gender in this book. It’s been a while since I’ve had the pleasure of reading a multiple POV story in first person. I am writing this just as I have finished the last chapter and I think I will be reading and craving the second instalment for quite some time to come! A romance featuring a sexy dragon, stabbing, and kissing—what’s not to love?”—Aliette de Bodard, award-winning author of A Fire Born of Exile

The first book in a new romance epic fantasy trilogy, in which long-banished dragons, revered as gods, return to the mortal realmDragonfall 5 is a series of children's science fiction novels written by Brian Earnshaw during the 1970s and illustrated by Simon Stern. The characters were written with care and had great development. The ending was a twist I did not see coming and it had me wishing for the second book immediately. I feel happy. I feel sad. I feel like it shouldn’t be over. Long ago, humans betrayed dragons, stealing their magic and banishing them to a dying world. Centuries later, their descendants worship dragons as gods. But the “gods” remember, and they do not forgive. The book is full of dragons, artefacts, many different manners of magic, friendship, growth, betrayal and so much more. Trust is gained, trust is lost and the ending while not quite a happy one, has left me needing more answers. An intriguing world, forbidden romance, unique magic, and of course, as many dragons as your heart could possibly desire.” —Tara Sim, author of The City of Dusk
