About this deal

Very unique and attractive wood-like appearance, with a nice large wooden music rest and removable metal legs (with a wood-like veneer) The full-size 88 key keyboard features hammer action keys that resemble a grand piano touch. They simulate a traditional piano to train your fingers for the real deal. It’s a great piano for practicing. 128 polyphony Shopping for a digital piano in 2023 can be overwhelming. Some of us know what all these features and details mean. Some of us don’t! A simple, easy-to-use, affordable piano with minimal fussis needed in the current market.

As you can see from the image above, the DDP-80 is a stylish keyboard piano and, in my opinion, the best keyboard piano in its design class. It is one of the few digital pianos that have a wooden frame and legs. The keyboard is minimalist, stylish, and modern, and looks great in almost any room. Very much the perfect partner (read rival) to the P-45 above, the Casio CDP-S110 is a near feature identical, identically priced take on the exact same market. It too features 10 sounds, all the usual headphone, USB and pedal ports and a full-size 88-note weighted keybed. Launched in January 2022, Casio’s latest offering features a pretty unique selling point in the shape of vocal synthesis. In a feature not found on any other keyboard at this price – or indeed any other keyboard full stop – the CT-S1000V will ‘sing’ lyrics typed into it via an app on your mobile device in one of 20 different voices.Rear and bottom panels: MIDI USB, sustain pedal, power line, audio output, headphone, 3-pedal unit cable port, volume control, power switch (goes to standby automatically if nobody plays for 30 minutes) Overall, this keyboard sounds and feels like the real thing, but I think the main reason to buy it is for its looks. There are other hammer-weighted keyboards that offer a better feel, more features, and better portability for a cheaper price (like the Yamaha P71). If size really is at a premium (or perhaps you're looking for something that does a little more than basic piano emulation) then the Yamaha Piaggero NP-12 fills a much-needed gap in the market.

Conclusion I bought this piano out of necessity because it met my price, size, and aesthetic requirements. If given the choice, more budget, and space I definitely would have bought something better from a reputable brand. In the future, I'm probably going to sell it and upgrade to something better (hopefully acoustic) when we're able to move out. I also wanted to write this review because there aren't many out there on the DDP-80 and it's one of the first ads that comes up when you search for it so a lot of new players might be tempted to buy it. Overall a fantastic option with particular emphasis on new learners and those looking for value for money, from a beautiful new product. Roland PHA4 (Roland FP-10, FP-30x): I think it has a similar weight, but since this is only a dual sensor, the Roland triple sensor action with escapement, will still be a much more realistic actionOne of the key names in digital keyboards Donner, have just released one of their most beautiful and charming products to date with the DDP-80. An elegant piece with a rich, acoustic timbre and full digital capabilities including Midi connection and online lessons via the Donner App. Donner DDP-80 Digital Piano: First Impressions Aesthetics The piano does look nice and kind of "classes up" the place. It has a nice wood finish and it's made from particle board. Donner kind of misleads you into thinking it was handcrafted and made from solid wood but...it's definitely not. The color looks a little different in person than the pictures online. The one I received has a darker, more reddish kind of wood grain but I think it looks nice. headphone port, 1/4″ (summed mono) line out port, USB to host port, generic 1/4″ sustain pedal input, proprietary triple pedal input ( portable triple pedal unit is included!) It weighs in at only 10.5Kg and many will prefer its simpler, sleek looks. There is of course a slight price to pay and that's that the Casio's keyboard action – while weighted – is on the light side, being piano action, without particularly aping the heavy feel of the piano.

The NP-12 features 61 keys, making it considerably more portable. Also, these keys – while nicely actioned – aren't piano weighted, being a good half-way between piano feel and organ/synth action. Arguably that's easier (and faster) to play than a full piano action. Yes, it is possible to use an extension cord if the piano is not close enough to the electrical outlet. So overall, how does this action compare to other entry level digital piano actions? Well, in comparing the DDP-80 action to the “Big 3: Roland, Yamaha and Casio, keep in mind that all of their actions will be found in pianos that are more expensive than the Donner: GOOD. ~ Great value for money. Authentic piano keyboard feel. Sounds good even on the small speakers. I was a bit nervous buying, not knowing where the keyboard was coming from, buying online without seeing or hearing it first ….It was a very fair price, and honestly a great find as I found nothing similar out there on the market (closest alternatives I found cost thousands of dollars, and are stands not actual wooden keyboards). In short.. I regret nothing! Take a visit to any digital piano store these days, and you will be hit face first with mountains of information on all the latest and most high tech digital piano models.
