About this deal

I quite liked the addition of the new characters in this and the story was an improvement compared to the last couple of books in the series. At the end of the story, Sarah interviewed Dr Scum about being new. Dr Scum ended the interview after the fourth question due to not being new. It went like this: One of the themes of this book, including scenes where Petey and Li'l Petey stepping on the mud while looking at the stars and Chapter 14: The Mud and The Stars, is inspired by Harold's favorite short poem:

Based On The Book, Dog Man: Fetch-22, Big Jim has a secret escape which Petey And Grampa only know. Big Jim is a cat who currently a prisoner at Cat Jail, along with Petey, Mr. Whiskers, Tippy, Fluffy, and several other unnamed cats. When he got hypnotized by Crunky and Bub, he thought he is a superhero named Commander Cupcake, and therefore started an addiction to cupcakes. Li'l Petey finds his grandpa because he thinks that may be Petey misses his dad. But the grandpa doesn't turn out to be the best person. Meanwhile, Dr. Scum terrorises the city and the supa buddies and Petey team up to take care of Dr. Scum and his evil robotic army.Yes, yes I did. I made my students wait for this book until I had a chance to read it. Because I know after we start passing it from reader to reader I might not see it again until November. And I'm just going to say to the graphic novel haters and those who can't stand the fact that their kids/students read Dog Man books over and over again...read one. Better yet, read the whole series. These books are so good that they are WORTH reading again and again! Recasting Dog Man and his feline ward, Li’l Petey, as costumed superheroes, Pilkey looks East of Eden in this follow-up to Tale of Two Kitties (2017). When Grampa calls Li'l Petey a "jabberjaw", it is a reference to the Hanna-Barbera character of the same name. What do you get from sewing the head of a smart dog onto the body of a tough police officer? A new superhero from the incorrigible creator of Captain Underpants. It's Big Jim's birthday, and the warden gave him a lot of balloons. He gives one to Tippy, Fluffy, and Mr. Whiskers. He tries to give Petey a balloon, but Petey pops it with his claw, making Big Jim cry. Petey tries to make Big Jim happy, but Big Jim tells him to go away. Petey finally makes Big Jim happy when he claims that he got Big Jim a present, which he buried in the jail yard litter box, and will hold Big Jim's balloons while Big Jim digs it up. Unknown to Big Jim, Petey flies away with Big Jim's balloons, and Big Jim only finds poop in the litter box.

Big Jim often will try to make Petey and Grampa laugh, though he is never funny. He appears to not be very bright, doing many things that are annoying. He is also blubbery, and will burst into tears if someone yells at him.I really love how Dav Pilkey is capable of hammering the reader over the head with his message and it still doesn't FEEL like he's doing that. I particularly liked the final point that we should do good because it's the right thing to do and not because we want credit. Petey's relationship with his father did a great job of showing that sometimes cutting out toxic family members is the right and healthy thing to do, and it's okay to not want to reconnect with someone who treated you poorly, even if that person is family. The Cupcakemobile and Cupcake Computer are both based on the Batmobile and the Batcomputer, all spoofing Batman's belongings. In Grime and Punishment and Fetch-22, he leaves Cat Jail unnoticed. This also happens in For Whom the Ball Rolls.
