If you’re looking for a full-frame camera, the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV is show-stopper (though not literally, thank goodness). It has super-fast autofocus, lots of focus points to work with, can record RAW images, has a quieter shutter than its predecessors (great for those spooky horses), and has super sharp images (ultimately depending on the lens you choose.) Trailer Eyes makes yet another great option for trailering. The TE-0115 system includes a 7” screen, a camera with night vision, and two wireless transmitters. If you want something that’s designed just for horses you can’t go wrong with the original StallWatch system. Monitor foaling or horses with injuries by watching the video feed on your smartphone or tablet.Have a GoPro? Want a drone? Try the GoPro Karma. It’s excellent for starters and has an easy to use gamepad-like controller for simple flying. Never film around other horses (e.g. trails) that may not be comfortable with drones. You don’t want to spook anyone else’s horse! Nikon also has a really great full frame camera for you to take to your next horse show. It has been described as “almost perfect” and, judging by the photos it produces, it is. Autofocus is lightning fast, and the images are oh-so beautiful and crisp. Across the board everyone agrees: absolutely breathtaking photos. Love Canon? The EOS Rebel T6 a budget Canon camera for you. It takes nice pictures (for the price) and has enough features to make it worth it.

It also has weather sealing, which can be a must for the potential environmental hazards you’ll find at both indoor and outdoor horse shows and around the barn. Dust, rain, and horse slobber won’t slow this bad boy down. GoPro brought the first action cameras to life for equestrians, and they are staying competitive. You can buy more Velcros separately to put on other hats/silks (I ended up buying another 5). The only issue I've found is that once the Velcro's on, it's not coming off, which has its pros and cons. But to be honest, I wouldn’t want to take it off anyway. I also have “temp” velcros which consist of 3 circles of velcro to attach to your hat, rather than a full strip, so I use these more on my baseball style caps. It simply Velcros on to the underneath of your hat peak or silk peak – yes, you heard it right, Velcro–which means no more horrible straps! It also makes it much safer in case you fall off. It fits 95% of hats currently produced which, when you take into account the number of brands and ranges of hats available, is quite a high percentage! Here's some footage I filmed using the Isi2 Cambox, to give you an idea of the picture and sound quality... Wireless” in the sense that you don’t need to run a wire from the monitor screen to the camera, but both the screen and camera do need to be wired into a power source

This action camera is one of a series that SJCAM has been making. Like the other newer action cameras on the market it has stabilized 4K video. Okay, let’s say you want to take some GREAT videos at horse shows, but you’re not quite in the market to spend a fortune on a video camera? The Sony NEX-VG30H is a great option. Taylor Sheridan’s newest creation, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, is just around the corner. Set in the late 1800s, the series follows the career of the real-life lawman, Bass Reeves. Originally titled 1883: The Bass Reeves Story, the Western drama was initially intended to be a spinoff of the Yellowstone prequel 1883. However, after a change of … You can listen through the cameras and even talk between devices. It’s great for yelling at your kids (Joking, but not really…) or scaring off intruders. Cambox is definitely the easiest camera to mount on your helmet. With simple velcro strips, you’ll be up and running within seconds.

Cons? There are some reported issues with stabilization when zoomed, and autofocus can be a bit off. When you think of a drone, you may think of a completely autonomous flying device. That’s pretty much what the HEXO+ is. It flies itself. It takes off alone, flies around, and films you riding all by itself, and then lands. Now, I'm an iPhone user and I prefer to edit videos on my phone, so I found it easier to do lots of shorter videos instead of one big long video, as it helps me cut out the bits I don’t want to keep, and it makes it easier to transfer onto my phone. I use an app called Phone Drive, then edit them in iMovie. Of course, if you have the Isi3 Cambox you can install the app on your phone which cuts out this whole process. What's the footage quality like? Another option for horse people is the Saddlebrook BarnCam. They offer both wireless and wired camera systems that can be transmitted to your TV as well as a webcam version. You can see for yourself the fantastic quality of the video and how amazingly clear and colourful the images are, considering they are being captured by such a small product! You can even pause the video and see how clear the number plates show, but I haven't included this bit of the video as I don't have the permission of any of the vehicles that passed. The sound is also very good, it even catches you breathing.
