About this deal

Gwalior’s Prachi Yadav becomes the first Indian paracanoe athlete to qualify for Tokyo Paralympics 2020. Prachi was a former champion para-swimmer for India, but switched to para canoe after her coach suggested because she had a better chance of getting to Paralympics. It is important both in doubles and in singles, although it is more important in doubles. In singles, you can win a lot of points by moving your opponent around until you gain sufficient advantage to send the shuttle somewhere where he or she cannot reach it.

There are basically two different types of badminton serves, however before we go into those it should noted that you have to serve under hand in badminton; over head serves are not permitted. Serve Type 1: High Deep ServeIf you are not sure how to perform a drop shot, you can have a look at our badminton drop shot post, where we explain all the different types of drop shots and a step by step guide on how to perform them. Drop drill with static net player This badminton drill is performed by locating boxes in different positions of the court. The aim should be to get as many shuttles in the boxes as possible. To make this more interesting, you can compete against other players and try to see who gets more shuttles inside the boxes. Another additional step to make it more interesting is to give a different value to the different boxes. For example, if you have boxes of different sizes, you can give the smallest size boxes more points as it is more difficult to hit the target with a smaller box. Multiple shuttles – Overhead strokes In this feature I am going to concentrate on the top five badminton shots you should spend a lot of time mastering. Practicing and getting these right will go a long way into making you a competitive player.

If you and your opponent cannot win by 2 and keep going until the score is 29-all, then the first team to score 30 points wins. Badminton can get quite challenging to play, especially if you don’t know how to play the basic strokes. Hence, to be able to rally, one must not skip learning these basic shots. Understand how a player can get a fault. There are several reasons that a team or player can earn a fault. Here they are: [4] X Research source This e-learning platform is co-created by Thomas Laybourn, Danish player, former World number 1, World Champion, and professional coach. It’s also a good idea to hit the shuttle directly on your opponent who will be forced to change position to respond to the shot. 4) Offensive Shots

Before learning any other shots, know the correct technique for serving first. If you can serve well, your opponent won’t be able to give a deadly return shot. Playing Badminton regularly can be very beneficial for you. But only if you know the basics will you be able to rally and play a game. It’s really is essential to improve your badminton drop shot technique if you wish to dominate the court. But wait what actually is a drop shot in badminton? In simple terms there are two different types. Underhand Drop Shot If the king of the court wins the rally, he adds a point to his or her score, while the challenger has to leave the court and has his or her position taken by the next challenger. Turn sideways with your left foot pointing towards the target and your right foot parallel to the baseline.

If the serving side commits a fault, then the receiving side gets a point and the serve shifts to that side. If the serving team serves and the receiving side commits a fault, then the serving team moves from one service court to the other and continues to serve. There is a point scored after every serve (unlike in volleyball, for example). After this, player 1 will return a lift shot, which will leave the drill in the same position as it was in the start with a high serve. The drill will continue onwards until somebody misses a shot. Net static drillMaster the forehand. Once you see that the shuttle is coming low and in front of you, you'll need to hit that forehand to beat your opponent. Here's what you have to do: Servers must be able to get the bird over in their hit. If the bird get's attempted to be hit but is missed, a fault can't be charged. (Things do happen to the best of all people.) It is mostly played in singles as a way to try to have time to return to the base point when you have caught the shuttle in a disadvantageous position. In doubles, it is only played to try to surprise your opponent or when you reach the shuttle in a very forced position. The reason for such limited use is because it is very likely that you will lose the initiative when using a clear shot in doubles.

The six more important shots to learn are the service, the clear shot, the smash shot, the net shot, the defense shot, and the drop shot. So, if you are a beginner, you should learn these first because they are the shots that have the highest impact on the game. Do not rush through to learn all the different types of badminton shots. Learn and practice each type of shot until you’re really good at it. Then move on to learn new types of shots. The net shot is a great response to the opponent’s drop shot; the drop being played from behind, the opponent is forced to run to the front of the court. The feet of any player must be completely within the service court at the time of play - otherwise a fault will be called. If you want a bit more information on the net brush shot or on how it is performed, you can visit our badminton net brush shot post, where we go into detail on all the types of net brush shots and how they should be performed. Final words

As we said at the beginning of the section, the possibilities for this are endless. You should always include footwork exercises into your training routine if you really want to become a good badminton player. Peter Gade, which we will quote in the next part, recommends the footwork to be done at the beginning of each training. Badminton drills to build reflexes and agility
