About this deal

My vampire loving heart started to race when I saw this book because all things vampires are my thing. Well, except those sparkly ones which I will not name. Plus I love when current authors take something classic like vampires and put their own twists on things. I was bouncing with excitement. Once Suzette starts mentioning to Alex about their daughter’s behavior he doesn’t believe it. How can his sweet little girl do any of the creepy things that are being described. Even when the schools tell the parents about Hanna’s schemes, Alex isn’t willing to consider it. Also have to point out how stunning the use of art in this was - I can't stop thinking about Immy's relationship with art as a way of seeking connection with the world around her and making peace with her own immortality. So I’m going to take the easy way out and neither recommend this book or not recommend this book.... I’m going to leave it up to you, because this book evoked some pretty seriously strong reactions in people.... so if you choose to read it, read it knowing there is some disturbing content and it is 100% not for everybody.... I was so excited I didn’t even remember to update my status that I was reading it. Since I never put it down until I was finished, there wasn’t much point. *shrug*

BABY TEETH | Kirkus Reviews

Ehrlich, David (4 September 2019). " 'Babyteeth' Review: Eliza Scanlen Leads Vibrant and Touching Australian Cancer Drama". IndieWire . Retrieved 4 September 2019. The pivotal moment in Hannah and Suzette's relationship is when Suzette is inappropriately candid with two-year-old Hanna. She doesn't consider how much Hanna can understand or how a young child with limited experience might process the information. It's a frustrating scene to witness, because of all the miscommunications that ignite the toxic cycle of Hanna and Suzette's relationship: Hannah is stressed out because Mommy is acting weird→Hanna tries to get her Mommy's attention the only way a two-year-old can→ Suzette interprets it as yet another one of her maternal failings, when Hanna is actually just being a normal toddler→The situation spirals out of control. However, they are not a perfect couple. Immy begins to take more blood than needed leaving Claudia physically weak, and one could argue that she is more obsessed with Claudia rather than in love with her - two things which are often conflated. Throughout the book, you can pinpoint moments where it becomes clear that they won't stay together. This is realistic, most relationships don't work out, not always because one person is awful, but sometimes because things aren't meant to be or you realise that you're not as compatible as you once thought. It breaks the mould of most romance novels. How’s my squirrely girl?” ...... Providing optimistic perky happiness of possibilities? —- sure ..... deny deny deny.... no problems with his little angle —- HANNA LOVES DADDY! I’m guessing ‘Daddy’ will face up to the problems pretty soon....but for now - he prefers to deny them. Booksource: I received a copy of this book from the Publisher. Because I have someone who doesn't hate me and begged for it! Pure win! (I loved it all on my own)

Review: Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage | The Nerd Daily Review: Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage | The Nerd Daily

Babyteeth". bfi.org.uk. 29 August 2019. Archived from the original on 5 September 2019 . Retrieved 29 August 2019. From blazing new talent Zoje Stage, Baby Teeth is a story about a perfect-looking family, and a darling little girl who wants nothing more than to kill her mother.” There may be any number of reasons as to why BABY TEETH is not the book for you, but there is absolutely no gratuitous child abuse in my novel. The premise of this novel is very simple: A seven-year-old terrorizes her mother but puts on an innocent face for Daddy, driving a wedge between the couple and driving the mom to desperation. Think The Orphan (2009) meets We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011). With that out of the way, we can move on to the merits and non-redeeming qualities of this book, shall we?As the hurtful acts between mother and daughter escalate, reading this book became more difficult. So hard to imagine a seven year old child plotting and carrying out the despicable acts that she committed. It was really just too dark and depressing for me. (Even though my inner-voice kept trying to remind me…it’s just a book!) Perhaps if the child was portrayed as older, capable of higher level of thought it might have been more palatable for me. Babyteeth is a 2019 Australian coming-of-age comedy-drama [3] film directed by Shannon Murphy from a screenplay by Rita Kalnejais, based upon her stage play of the same name. It stars Eliza Scanlen (in her first film appearance), Toby Wallace, Emily Barclay, Eugene Gilfedder, Essie Davis, and Ben Mendelsohn. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on 4 September 2019. It was released in Australia on 23 July 2020 by Universal Pictures and won nine AACTA awards, including Best Film. Why I wanted to read this one……This book was a Traveling Sisters Group Read that I missed out on reading and with the so many strong reactions and thoughts towards this book I just knew that I had to read it! I don’t think I have ever been so interested in finding out what my thoughts would be over a book like I was with this one. I think I wanted more from certain areas of the story, more clarity, but other than that I loved this. Dennis asked me how I was feeling this story. My answer = “it’s nuts, weird, strange but I love it”. For real, this was one wild story and I ate it all up! It made me FEEL so many feels. I was pissed, grossed out, felt creeped out and had me looking at my own child like, huh🤔.
