About this deal

As with any shoe with a mesh upper, the Torin 4.0 isn’t going to keep your feet dry in the rain or while running through a puddle. I thought the midfoot fit felt a little snug at first, but as each run went on, it formed better to my obnoxiously wide feet. Some of the Altra fans may complain that it’s not as wide as it used to be, but if I can wear them, you probably can too. The Torin 4.5 Plush is a cushioned, zero drop road running shoe designed for everyday use. It is for neutral runners looking for a lightweight but plushly cushioned, responsive ride. Altra shaved a full ounce off the men’s model and a little over one ounce from the women’s. The change dropped the women’s shoe to 7.4 oz and the men’s to 9.1 oz—placing the new version comfortably in that sub-10 oz category. The result is an even lighter ride than before while maintaining the same soft feel. There was an overlay around the toe box in the previous version that annoyingly creased. Altra softened that up and made it less pronounced around the pinky toe so there are no issues anymore.

The 5 weighs about 9 ounces which is really light for a max cushion shoe—especially compared to some of the other stuff we have on the wall in that same max cushion family. It is a little lighter due to the new Ego Max Midsole. Altra’s shoes like the Escalante , the new Lone Peak, and Rivera have a bouncy, lightweight, soft feel due to their Ego Midsole. The Torin 5 will have a midsole similar to what we have seen in those shoes but slightly more elevated. New shoes from Altra coming down the line will include this new Ego Max midsole. Eventually, Altra will have shoes that are just Ego, and then Ego Max. These midsoles will make the price points higher and lower depending on how much the shoe’s ego max has. A Lightweight, Comfortable Distance Shoe JARRETT: The Altra Torin 4.5 Plush is here. What does the .5 mean? I’m glad you asked! Or secretly I want to show off that I can pay attention and learned something… The .5 means that this is an update to just the upper. The midsole and outsole are the same as the Torin 4 Plush. If you liked the previous model, you’ll be happier than a pig in mud. Designers focused on plush cushioning throughout the heel collar to create a protected, yet flexible feel where you need it most. A silky smooth fabric covers the whole collar for a chafe-free fit that keeps debris out. Tipping the scales at 9 oz the Torin 5 is nice and light. While not as lean as a racing shoe, the Torin 5 is perfectly in league with shoes within its intended use genre. The Torin 5 is the perfect weight for those everyday runs. Altra even achieves this weight while offering a slightly more cushioned platform. Enhanced heel collar is a nice touch I’ve run in Torins before, but never would have said that I was a big Torin fan. This shoe changes that for me—I’m a fan of the Altra Torin 4.0!

I’d love to see Altra trim a bit more of cushioning off of this shoe as I’m a fan of fairly minimal amounts of cushioning, but I really can’t complain about this shoe overall. Il a également contribué au lancement de la marque américaine Under Armour en Europe, notamment sa collection HOVR pour le running, au sein de son équipe marketing.Alright, I have to be honest. I have a soft spot for a little extra cushion in my running shoes. Don´t get me wrong, I love my slimmed down, 7oz, no-nonsense racing flats, but when it comes to pounding the pavement to get my daily miles in, I really enjoy the cushion. The Torin 5 strikes a nice balance between soft and responsive in their Altra EGO MAX sole. Pour chaque modèle de chaussures, nous faisons une analyse de plusieurs tests et passons en revue les avis de clients afin de proposer une note globale et un consensus. The FootPod outsole allows the shoe to bend and flex in the same way that the foot bends and flexes with each stride. Many other running shoes are built on steeper drops, with popular models ranging anywhere from 4 mm to 12 mm. For runners used to those bigger differences between the heel and toe, the Torin 4.5 Plush might take some getting used to since it works different muscles in your feet and legs.

My arches are mostly flat and I like to have a little shape and support underneath them on the run. The Torin has just the right form to support my feet comfortably,” she says. Altra designers built the Torin 5 on a slab of cushy foam with a 0mm profile to offer the most stable, energetic feel on the run. When I first put the Torin 4.0s on, I immediately noticed that they felt tighter around the mid foot area than pretty much any other Altra shoe I’ve ever worn. You know what you’re getting before you even step into the Altra Torin 4.5 Plush—it’s right there in the name. Altra achieved that soft feel with its Quantic midsole. The foam midsole is squishy beneath your feet, and it delivers a consistent softness from heel to toe, which makes transitions smooth and easy.

Topo Magnifly 3: Like Altra Topo shoes have a broad rounded toe box. The Magnifly is zero drop like the Torin 4.5 Plush. However, the ride is much firmer and more responsive. So, if you don’t like running on pillows then the Topo Magnifly 3 would be worth considering. Here is our review: ROBBE: The last time I reviewed the Torin was two years ago for the Torin 3.5. There was a great deal I enjoyed about that shoe in regards to performance. Very comfortable, lightweight, enjoyable to run in.
