About this deal

There have been reports of blood dyscrasis including thrombocytopenia and agranulocytosis, but these were not necessarily causally related to paracetamol. HOW TO TAKE ALKA-SELTZER® XS Epidemiological studies in human pregnancy have shown no ill effects due to paracetamol used in the recommended dosage. Epidemiological studies on neurodevelopment in children exposed to paracetamol in utero show inconclusive results. If clinically needed, patients should follow the advice of their doctor regarding its use. Two tablets dissolved in half a glass (100ml) of water may be taken every 4 hours as required. You should not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours. For rapid relief of pain including migraine, headache, period pains, neuralgia, toothache, sore throat. A mixed respiratory alkalosis and metabolic acidosis with normal or high arterial pH (normal or reduced hydrogen ion concentration) is usual in adults and children over the age of four years. In children aged four years or less, a dominant metabolic acidosis with low arterial pH (raised hydrogen ion concentration) is common. Acidosis may increase salicylate transfer across the blood brain barrier.Immediate medical advice should be sought in the event of an overdose, even if you feel well, because ofthe risk of delayed, serious liver damage. The active substances are aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) (267mg per tablet), paracetamol (133mg per tablet) and caffeine (40mg per tablet). Do not take Alka-Seltzer XS if you are pregnant, breast-feeding or trying for a baby unless directed byyour doctor. Aspirin can prolong labour and affectblood clotting in the mother or baby.
