Product Information

Using a pressure washer or other mechanical sprayer, apply Virkon® S solution at an application rate of 300ml/m2.

Water System Disinfection: Isolate the header tank, drain off to drinker points farthest from the tank, clean, refill with water, add Virkon S, stir, leave for 10 minutes, flush the system, and refill with clean water. In view of the wide range of uses of chemicals and apparatus, the customer will be solely responsible for determining the suitability and specification of products, services, information and advice for its purposes.Once placed in water, becomes a pink solution which is activated within 5 minutes. Built-in colour indicator of strength and use life up to five days after activation (1:100 solution). Solution can be applied to surfaces using a spray bottle, sponge, mop etc. Any items that need disinfecting (not medical devices) can be submerged in Virkon solution and rinsed afterwards. Not approved for this use in California): Virkon™ S intended to disinfect hard, non-porous environmental surfaces associated with aquaculture including vehicles, nets, boots, waders, dive suits, hoses, brushes and other similar equipment. Virkon™ S may also be used in foot dips. Do not re-use a solution in which contaminated material has been soaked. The solution is considered efficacious for 7 days at room temperature once diluted. Virkon™ Tablets passes the AOAC germicidal and detergent sanitizer test at a concentration of 0.5% (1:200).

To achieve the appropriate use-diluted Virkon™ S concentration, fill container with the volume of water and quantity of powder or tablet(s) found in the following table. Safe and simple to use - not classified as harmful to the user. It has a low acute toxicity, does not cause skin corrosion, does not cause sensitisation and is biodegradable.

Aerial Disinfection

Authorisation will be subject to the condition that the products are returned to VWR Customer Service Centre or to the manufacturer or other source and by the method advised by VWR. Caution: Persons must leave and animals/poultry and their feed must be removed from the premises prior to disinfection. Authorisation to return products damaged during delivery must be requested within 3 days of delivery. VWR has the right to repair and return damaged products.

Non-Corrosive and Biodegradable: A non-corrosive, non-bleaching, and biodegradable formula suitable for porous surfaces. To estimate the total surface area to be disinfected, including walls and ceilings, multiply the total floor area by 2.5. Once diluted in a 1% solution, Virkon® is of low toxicity, non-tainting, and non-irritant. Because of its high detergency and mode of action, Virkon® can be used in an exceptional variety of situations for effective cleaning and virucidal disinfection in a single operation. Virkon® can be applied manually or through all types of cleaning and spraying equipment. Virkon Aquatic is approved by DEFRA for control of notifiable diseases such as Infectious Salomon Anaemia and Koi Herpes virus. Nothing in this contract shall limit or exclude VWR’s liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other matter in respect of which it would be unlawful for VWR to exclude or restrict liability.
