About this deal

The Triangle Borea BR07 is the smallest and most compact floor standing speaker in the range and is 2.5 way in design sitting above the previous bookshelf models. The 2.5-way configuration delivers a dynamic and powerful performance in a compact design, perfect for rooms ranging from 15 to 30m2. Powering the BR07 is a 25mm soft dome tweeter for the high frequencies, a 16cm mid-range driver and to look after the low frequencies is a 16cm fibreglass driver. Both Borea BR09 and Borea BR08 have front firing ports. front ported speakers offers more flexibility in placement in regards to proximity to walls&surfaces compared to rear ported speakers. Physical Specs Actually, the big Triangle did more than that, as it was more than hanging on. It gave the orchestra width, depth and even some height, which you'd typically expect from the likes of Audiovector's R3 Arreté and other similarly higher-priced designs. The Borea isn't quite up to that level of presentation, nor should this be expected, but what was being lovingly decanted into my auditory canal was very impressive indeed.

Triangle Borea BR09 has a Bass Reflex type cabinet. Bass Reflex type loudspeakers (aka Ported, Vented or Reflex Port) have enclosures that uses a port, hole or vent cut into the cabinet. Ported designs are generally more efficient than the Sealed designs. That third driver and resultantly larger bass reflex enclosure allow the ’09 to dig deeper into the lower octaves than the ’08. Triangle claims a minus 3dB point at 35Hz rather than the ’08s 40Hz. With careful siting to take advantage of room gain the review samples generated rather amusing levels of bass slam and weight as part of a relatively linear frequency response. Triangle Borea BR09 has external dimensions of (Height x Width x Depth) 43.1 x 8.1 x 12.3inch (1095.0 x 206.0 x 314.0mm ).The Triangle Borea BR09 Floorstanding speakers use an Efficient Flow System tweeter, with a 25mm silk dome and phase plug to diffuse high frequencies with uniformity. This allows a reduction in directionality, letting you easily hear the music wherever you are in the room. The dome is placed inside the partial horn loading, reducing reflections and letting the tweeter produce clear high frequencies. The transducer uses a powerful neodymium motor for improved power handling. The DVAS system considerably reduces the vibration of the speaker and reinforces the notion of neutrality and clarity when listening. It results in a better listening experience with no coloration or structure noise. Given its price, Triangle's Borea BR08 works like a champ. The company has cleverly concentrated on the nuts and bolts of speaker-making while eschewing fancy cabinet finishes and complex designs that divert money away from the basics. The result is an excellent all-rounder that's happy to play any genre and – with some care taken in positioning and system matching – punches way higher than it should. The 160mm midrange driver provides a rich, warm, and lifelike midrange reproduction. Vocals and instruments in this frequency range are presented with excellent accuracy and detail, giving a sense of realism to the music. In addition, the midrange is well-balanced and never overpowers the other frequencies, ensuring а coherent and cohesive sound signature.

Triangle’s Boreo BR09’s 25mm silk dome tweeter has next generation Efficient Flow System technology for the improvement of high frequencies dispersion and to avoid directional audio flow so that the sound is even across the room. Lord Darlington, in Oscar Wilde’s play ‘Lady Windermere’s Fan’, famously observes that “a cynic is someone who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.” The whole system offers plenty of detail and articulate agility alongside a powerful, punchy performance, and the centre channel projects dialogue with sharpness and clarity. Overall, the timbre of the main system feels fairly even and well balanced. Borea BR09 comes with magnetic grilles. The purpose of the grille is to protect the delicate driver elements from external impacts while still allowing the sound to pass as clearly as possible. Since the included grille of the Borea BR09 is magnetic type, it is very easy to put it on and off.The Borea BR09’s 25mm silk dome tweeter delivers crisp, detailed highs that are never harsh or fatiguing. The treble is well-extended and airy, capturing the nuances of various instruments аnd vocals with impressive clarity. In addition, the natural and smooth presentation of the high frequencies allows for an immersive and enjoyable listening experience. Equipped with dual 160mm bass drivers, it delivers a powerful and controlled low-end performance. The bass is tight, punchy, and extends deep, providing a solid foundation for the overall sound. Despite its authority, the bass remains well-integrated with the mids and highs, preventing muddiness or overwhelming boominess. Equipped with a 25mm EFS silk done tweeter, this Borea speaker produces a smooth yet detailed top-end response. This lets you hear fine detail without the sound becoming harsh or grainy – even at higher volume levels. To some, the front of the speakers may look a tad unbalanced, with the ports a little cramped next to the mid-bass driver. However, with the magnetic speaker grilles, there is always the option of covering them up.

The floorstanders have a pedestal, ensuring greater stability, on which four inserts allow the implementation of decoupling spikes. Rubber pads are also provided if the flooring does not allow the use of spikes. To optimize the sound quality and imaging of the Borea BR09, it is recommended to place the speakers at least 2-3 feet away from the rear and side walls. Ideally, the speakers should be spaced 6-10 feet apart, and slightly toed-in towards the listening position. Experimenting with the distance and angle mаy help you achieve the desired soundstage and imaging. Additionally, ensure the tweeters are seated at ear level for optimal high-frequency performance. A small pleat peripheral short-travel suspension is also included to allow for perfect control of the movement of the moving elements, to result in a more realistic-sounding vocal. 2x 16” Bass Drivers It is based on the association of a 25mm silk dome, known for its neutrality, with a phase plug developed specifically to homogenize high-frequency diffusion. This system significantly reduces the directivity regardless of your listening location in the room. Some have fingered the silk-domed tweeter used in the Borea range for sometimes drawing attention to grain or brashness elsewhere in the system. On Patricia Kopatchinskaja’s spellbinding recording of Ligeti’s Violin Concerto with the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra [Naïve] the soloist and violin section explore the instrument’s 3.5kHz upper limit, and there’s piccolo at up to 5kHz. On some systems, these can be finger-nails-on-chalkboard moments, but in my room, with my system, I hardly felt a twinge of discomfort. Perhaps this is system-dependent. Perhaps the added low-end heft of the ’09 over the ’08 to an extent counterbalances any undesirable tendencies at the top end. With Natalie Merchant’s “Carnival,” the differences I’d heard in the midrange were a bit more obvious. The Chora 806es seemed to produce more air and space around Merchant’s voice than did the Borea BR08s, which resulted in a more convincing image of her voice, one I felt I could reach out and touch. The acoustic guitar to right of center also seemed surrounded by more space through the Focals, with a hint more sparkle and bite on leading edges. Nonetheless, the laser-like imaging prowesses of these speakers were essentially on a par, as were the width, height, and depth of their soundstages. Sound Quality: A party speaker that likes to be turned up loud but one that can also do a good degree of subtlety too .

Ohms is pretty much the standard nominal impedance amongst stereo speakers and amplifiers so Triangle Borea BR09 is not considered a difficult to drive speaker from nominal Impedance perspective. Review Equipment: Auralic G1 streamer, Leema Libra DAC, Merrill Thor amps, Way, Tellurium Q, and Atlas cables. Borea BR09 features Binding post type posts and Borea BR08 has a Binding post type posts. None of these speakers feature bi-amping/bi-wiring. The Triangle Borea BR09 creates an expansive and three-dimensional soundstage, with excellent width, depth, and height. The precise imaging allows for accurate placement of instruments and vocals within the soundstage, providing а true-to-life and immersive listening experience. The speakers disappear in the room, giving you the impression of being at a live performance. The Borea BR08 benefits from a weekend of stern corrective measures. A sound thrashing for a few days will shake loose the drivers and make for a significantly better sound than first heard out of the box at the outset. For once, however, the ‘first fit’ concept doesn’t seem so important; set the speaker up where it sounds good out of the box, as subsequent hours of run-in open up the mid and top more than the bass. And, anyway, as Lord Darlington reminds us, value is not cost. Unless we are members of the distortion police, those for whom measurements are all, we approach to value in audio much the same way we might approach a meal. Two chefs cook the French peasant dish ratatouille. The minimal cost of the ingredients is identical, but the more skilful chef turns out a dish that tastes quite sublime while the other’s is rather ho-hum. By happily paying more for one of them, we demonstrate our sensitivity to value.
